How Far In Advance; Groom’s Tux?

mrswinteriscoming, on June 8, 2020 at 7:33 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
My FH and I are getting married in December. How soon in advance should we get his tux made up? I read that we really don’t need it sorted until 2-3 months in advance.
I was hoping to get him measured around early October so we could possibly time it near my Kitchen Tea so that we can have my BIL&SIL come down that weekend to attend the Kitchen Tea & allow my BIL to have his suit measured too (he is Best Man and lives interstate).
Is 2 months not enough time for a suit? And is that too far before the wedding for my kitchen tea? Thanks!!

I have no idea what a kitchen tea is, so I'm of no help there. The tux sizing depends on where you're ordering from, many places won't do sizing until 1-2 months before the wedding. I would reach out to the store that you plan to shop at.

My husband and I went and picked everything out and he go measured 6 weeks before our wedding. All the guys measurements had to be in 1 month before. They picked them up the day before. One of our groomsmen also loved out of state. He was able to get measured in his hometown and call in his measurements. If you choose someplace that is a chain and can be found nation wide, then he can just go into the shop closest to him to be measured. You don't all have to necessarily go together.

And I don't know what a kitchen tea is. I am assuming kind of like a shower? If so I don't think 2 months is too far before. I had my shower almost 2 months before.

A Kitchen Tea is pretty much the same thing as a Bridal Shower as far as I’m aware.

Sounds like we can easily get suits around mid-end Oct then so maybe we will do the two on the same weekend. I was planning to go to a national brand to do what you suggested (we are doing the same thing with flower girl dresses) but the family are hoping to come visit anyway so we’ll see what they decide if they want to come for the fitting and Kitchen Tea.

My husband got his tux the week of our wedding. Our guys got theirs only a few weeks before. They are all procrastinators lol. Renting a tux isn’t like ordering a dress, they are pretty standard and only need to have a few adjustments made before they are ready.

I think this timeline is fine! It isn't too early for the shower and isn't too late for the tux.
