How far ahead do you plan bridal shower?

I will be hosting my daughters shower along with her BM's this time next summer. Because of distance of family/friends we are looking for a very specific area and limited venues to hold shower. Is it too early to start looking, booking and planning? Last time I did anything like this it was for my own wedding many years ago!

Typically I would start looking about 5-6 months ahead if you have limited time and venue options. If you have a lot of people that are coming from out of town (more than 2 hours) I would send out invites at least 8 weeks ahead. If not then I would send them out 4-6 weeks ahead.
