How early/late should I get my facial?

Nicole, on February 13, 2014 at 5:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

To preface this, I never get facials. I've had two ever. I love them completely, but usually cant justify the cost. I'm much more of a massage girl. However, I've started to break out lately (likely caused by STRESS!) I'm considering getting a clearing facial (the kind that uses extractions to clear pores). Does anyone have any idea how soon before the wedding this should be done? I know if I do it the day before, I'll still be a little red and agitated. But if I do it too soon, the effects will have worn off.

Does anyone get regular facials and have any kind of idea about this?

If you don't get facials regularly, I wouldn't do it any sooner than 2 weeks before.

Personally, I would do it about 2-3 weeks out but not any closer. I used to get facials all the time and the extraction can definitely leave your skin red for more than a few days.

You might already do this but drink plenty of water. Go to the sauna. Do some relaxing stuff. Eat healthy. These will all help with your skin Smiley smile

I would say a week out at least but if you don't get them regularly you might want to give it even a little longer.

I would try one now, to see how your face reacts to it. I know it is double the money, but you'll know better what to expect. `

I agree with Celia...I would get one immediately and see how your skin reacts. Better to find out now

I also agree with Celia. I'm about 5 months away and am already thinking of my skin regimen. If you plan to do anything different (facials when you've never had one before) start early. See how you react. If your skin goes crazy, you have plenty of time to get it back to normal

I agree with MissMad. I am a huge fan of chemical peels. I get one monthly, but its a little bit more hard core than a typical facial. I see my dermatologist office for this. If your skin is sensitive it might not be something you try so close to the wedding, sometimes you can break out initially but your face will glow like a baby after a few days! Im addicted.

I hardly ever get a facial - I went the weekend before to get mine. It wasn't anything crazy like a chemical peel, just a relaxation type thing Smiley smile it was totally worth it!!

My skin really acts up 2-3 weeks post facial and I really don't notice any difference so for me, getting a facial is not worth it. I just exfoliate every other day.

I agree with the others on here and say trial it first to see how your skin will be before the wedding. The last thing any bride wants is a giant bumpy friend making an appearance on her wedding day.
