How early to book hair and makeup?

I know I have some time, but I'm starting to worry about hair and makeup. The prices I'm seeing for my area are a little shocking compared to what I've paid to be in other weddings, and while I don't mind paying it for myself, I don't want to saddle my BMs with the expense of flying down here,...

I know I have some time, but I'm starting to worry about hair and makeup. The prices I'm seeing for my area are a little shocking compared to what I've paid to be in other weddings, and while I don't mind paying it for myself, I don't want to saddle my BMs with the expense of flying down here, buying a dress, and then paying like $150 to get their hair and makeup done.

Will I sound like a crazy person reaching out to them about budgets this far in advance of the wedding? How early did you all start booking this? How much is too much?

Thanks for asking this date twin. I had the exact same question. I wasn't sure if it was too early to start contacting places, but after reading this I'm also going to start reaching out.

I talked to all of my bridesmaids today... three want full hair and makeup with varying budgets, one is a hairstylist who just wants makeup, and FSIL wants her mom to do it. I'm thinking FMIL will be a little too busy to do her daughter's updo and makeup on her son's wedding day but I'll let them figure that out on their own time.

Thanks for everyone's assistance! I've reached out to a few MUAs and I think I can contribute enough to keep their hair and makeup under $100. Based on the replies I've received, it's definitely not too early!

I booked hair and makeup about a year out. I found a mua and hairstylist i loved. I got the price and since only have two girls in wedding party I asked them if it would be within budget if I paid for one service and they paid for the other. They both said that sounded fine and then I booked her
