How early is too early to book your venue?

Okay, my fiancé and I would really like an October or November 2019 wedding. My grandfather has been gracious enough to offer to pay for our venue and has given us no price restrictions so Friday’s and Saturday’s are both options and we have no particular date in mind, just the desire of a fall...
Okay, my fiancé and I would really like an October or November 2019 wedding. My grandfather has been gracious enough to offer to pay for our venue and has given us no price restrictions so Friday’s and Saturday’s are both options and we have no particular date in mind, just the desire of a fall wedding. I really want to tour a venue I fell in love with and hopefully book an official date but my fiancé says we have more than enough time because of the flexibility we have. I guess my question is when did you ladies book your venue? Do you agree that 21ish months is too far out?

Fall weddings are desired and do book quickly. It would depend on the venue. Some even charge you when you book so many months in advance because anything could happen (knock on wood) so they want to know you're serious. I would start looking and get an idea on the pricing of things (regardless there is no limit) and also how the venue works and their food and things. Once you and your FH have made a decision, it is the one!

Never ever too early for venues. (Within reason!) I think booking one now for next fall is perfect time, especially since fall is a very popular times for weddings. I wanted to do September this year instead of August. This was last August that I was looking at venues, and September-December were completely booked already.

    Search now! You'll feel better!

Depends on the venue and popularity. We booked our venue in March 2016 for our June 2018 wedding. I loved it so much, I didn't want to wait. FH just goes with the flow and lets me do what I want Smiley smile he's so great like that.

Sometimes booking early locks in the cheaper price. Nothing wrong with going to tour places and price compare. Nothing is too early to start planning. Have fun it.

I agree that it depends on the venue. Availability can change very quickly so I would say check with them to see what your options are.

If you are certain on the venue book it asap! venues especially can book up quickly! That being said if there is a possibility you may change your mind or financially not be able to afford the wedding there, don't book it yet just talk to them, tell them the date you really want and ask if they will let you know before anyone else books that date because you are "saving up for the deposit" this is by no means a guarantee and you should definitely check back every couple of months but this could help you avoid putting down a deposit and loosing it.

We got engaged in May & booked our venue in August 25 months in advance. We aren't getting married until Sept 2019. The pros we had a bunch of dates to choose from. We probably could have waited a little longer, but we went there this past weekend and now they have a ton of dates books in 2019. It just depends on the venue. If you fall in love book it. Also we have two years to pay for it so that is really nice - spreading out payments.

The earlier, the better. I booked 10 months out but I only had 3 Fridays to choose from in the whole 4 month timespan I was looking at, so if you want a Saturday, definitely book now. Some venues book 2 years ahead! However, if your desired venue is a relatively new or "struggling" business (I'm not sure how you'd necessarily find out the latter, but doesn't hurt to try), make sure you know what'll happen if they shut down suddenly, lose their liquor license, etc. There are 2 local venues near me that have abruptly closed and everyone lost their deposits - I'd be furious!

We booked ours 24 months out (we wanted a specific date during peak season and didn’t want to take a chance). I would go ahead and book it so you have peace of mind

I still have 3 years to go before the wedding, but I don't want to wait till the last minute to book anything. We are also doing a Friday wedding :-)

We are looking and touring venues now. Our wedding date is August 2020. Some of the venues we have been touring are ready booking for 2020
