How does the veil thing work?

Amber, on May 15, 2012 at 11:23 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I'm using my mother's two-tier cathedral veil from her wedding. How does the veil ceremony work if I decide to wear it over my face? When is it lifted, and who does it? I've tried google, but I'm not finding anything except where to buy veils lol. Thanks Brides!

I've seen it done a couple ways. Sometimes the dad (or other escort) lifts it when you both reach the end of the aisle. Sometimes the new hubby lifts it before the kiss.

I'm doing mine at the end of the aisle...otherwise it will annoy me, lol!

Your dad. or whoever is walking you down the aisle.

He'll walk you up, and then once you get to the alter he'll lift the veil and give you a kiss on the cheek, or a hug (whatever works for the two of you) and then he gives your groom a hand shake or a hug (whatever works for the two of them). Then you take your grooms hand and walk up to the officiant and proceed with the ceremony.

Also, if you wait until the kiss you won't have any ceremony pictures of your face! It'll be all veil until the end.

Just a few days ago I decided I wont cover my face at all but when I have seen it done it is either the dad(whoever the bride walks in with) before he/she goes back to their seat or the hubby.
