How do we tactfully invite adults only?

We are currently planning my daughters upcoming wedding. We have no children under 18 on either side of the family. There will be no flower girl or ring bearer. Our plans are to throw an adult party/reception. Several of our bridesmaids & groomsmen have young children under age 6. One is offended that he can't hold his toddler during the ceremony. The venue we have chosen is at a state park in a building that has an exhibit hall with artifacts on loan from the state museum. Needless to say, we have to put down a huge damage deposit for the use of the facility. How do we tactfully inform our guests & wedding party that this is an adult only event?

This is really weird. We're having a DW and before we finalized everything we asked our closest friends how they felt about traveling. Literally the first thing my best friend said was..."OMG yes! A weekend without the kids!" Haha.

Anyways, to answer your question, we put 2 seats have been reserved in your honor and below we put _ of 2 will be attending. This should clear up that for a family of four, only the two adults are invited.

@Natalie J. I flaged you threating to crash someone's wedding because they want certain things is unacceptable. Grow up.

Oh please. It was a joke. If she can send out a ridiculous request list for her guests then I can make an equally ridiculous joke about it.

Hi Kate. You can respectfully disagree.

Just saying, once you start considering everyone else who you've invited the less it will be about you. Who wants that? It's ok to be selfish sometimes, especially when it's your wedding day. You won't regret it!

P.S. apparently having an avatar is a big thing around here, I've been here for months lol.

I agree with PP. ___ seats have been reserved in your honor is the best way.

The recent wedding I went to was adult only and they had contact information along with invitation for an on-site nanny that you had to pay for with the available times as the time of the wedding on it as their way of saying no children. Of course I let my parents watch the kids since I was not a fan of some complete stranger watching my little baby. They did this mainly because they don't have kids I think.

Huh? People don't invite kids "because they don't have kids."

Our wedding was 21 and up as have been almost every single one of the 2-dozen weddings we've been invited to. My family has been hosting adult weddings, for around 50 years.

'They did this mainly because they don't have kids I think.'

Or because they have the right to decide who they want at their own wedding free of judgement?
