How do I tell a vendor/venue I'm not going with them?

I have contacted a bunch of vendors/venues via email to find out prices and most of them have been way out of my price range... (dang money, wish we didnt need it), now what do I say back to let them know that I wont be choosing them?

Taking the time to contact vendors and tell them you won't be hiring them is a nice thing to do. I'd just send an e-mail. "Thanks for the information but we've decided against using your service." That's all you really need to say.

Just be honest and tell them why you didn't select them. I appreciate honesty about why I wasn't selected because it means I can learn and grow.

    Dear vendor,

We appreciate your meeting with us and discussing our wedding plans, however, we've opted to go with another vendor. As much as we appreciate what you have to offer you were out of our budget/your style doesn't match our choices/you were pretentious and conceited/etc.

Again, thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Bride.

I was once told we weren't selected because I wore a suit to the meeting and we met at a nice location. Her wedding was a laid back/casual beach wedding. She just didn't see me at fitting her wedding despite my having done plenty of 'laid back' weddings. I learned something from talking with her about why she didn't choose me and I appreciate it more than most would know.

Remember, vendors need feedback to learn and grow as well. Smiley smile

What about when they ask who you DID go with? Is that ok to tell them? I feel like it is an uncomfortable question. What do you think?
