How do i stop notifications?

If I reply to a post, the default is that I receive notifications of later comments. Some of these posts can end up with several hundred comments, and I don't necessarily want to receive notifications of all of them. However, avoiding that requires remembering to uncheck that box before I post my comment. Is there some way to stop notifications later, if I forget when I post?

Uncheck the box at the left of the reply dialogue box.
Notify me when new comments are added in this discussion
I really wish this was the default setting. Those who want to get the notifications could choose to do so.

I know that's what I should do if I remember. My question was what do I do if I forget to do this when I post a comment. Is there a way to go back and stop notifications later? Does it require me to post another comment on the same thread, and this time uncheck that box?

I like, never actually receive notifications so I just leave it checked. I think I have gotten 2 emails about it since the update? Don’t think it actually works but idk.

Currently I do not know of a way to change your past email notification opt-in at the individual discussion level, but I will definitely pass request along as feedback!
