how do I get raffia to stick to metal???

Jenni G., on September 17, 2009 at 12:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

Ok, so we're using mason jars for our centerpieces (totally fab looking AND 7 bucks for a dozen... I can't go wrong!!) the canning lids have a ring around the outside of metal that we want to totally wrap in raffia.. but we can't get anything to stick.. we DID use glue dots, and they stick.. but I have to use like 100 for each lid.. totally not economical. Any suggestions?? (thanks in advance!!)

Try a produce called E6000. You can buy it at Wal-mart in the crafting area with all of the glue. It is however VERY toxic in fumes as you use it so use in a WELL ventilated area, but it should work.

My FMIL paints and decorates bottles for insence burners and we have found that the E6000 is great but to put some on a plate and just dip your object or use a q-tip to place the glue. If you dont you can end up with a lot of seepage.

Try gorilla glue. its kinda think, so it wont seep through, and itll hold anything. carpenters use it and you can get it at a bed bath and beyond, target, walmart, anywhere!
