How did you tell your family and friends you were engaged? Or how did they find out?

My fiancé and I had a really good time telling my family we were engaged. Did you come up with a creative way to tell your families? Did someone else spill the beans? Was it well-received or was there drama? Was it just a group text or a Facebook announcement? I wanna know! I'll comment with my...

When my mom found out all she said was "I'm glad he finally made it official!"

    Ok mom? Smiley ups

My sister knew for months because she was helping FH design the ring, and I heard that FH's mom also knew cause she was helping as well. It feels like a family contribution Smiley heart

You're getting married Feb like me! Are you anxious? I'm feeling very anxious even though its small. I feel like I'm forgetting something always!

Lol, Santa Monica pier has a few different parking lots, various restaurants and the board walk (see below). At a certain point I was getting a bit curious so I did look around but we went so fast to the ferris wheel that I didn't have time to process anything. I was searching the parking lot and others walking around us.

Oh yes! I love that pier, but it's been MANY years since I've been there. It sure looks a lot busier than it did when I lived out there! I'm so glad your family was able to surprise you!

Andrea, I'm so anxious and strung super tight. I definitely need a little break from wedding planning. We're both so close. I keep reminding myself it's just a few weeks away, and then we can finally party and relax!!

They were more on engagement watch than I was so it wasn’t really too deflating. I didn’t have much reason to. Think he’d propose any of those times so I wasn’t ever disappointed by it.

My dad stepmom, two younger brothers, his parents and sister were all there for our birthday celebration. I just thought it was a birthday party for our 29th birthday but it turned out to be our engagement day too. After he proposed, we called my mom, grandparents and older brother and told them. We FaceTimed my sister and her family living in another country so that was cool to see her reaction.

We do share a birthday! I was born in the early early morning and he was born in the evening. I’m about 16 hours older than him.
Yeah! We recorded her and my nephew’s reactions which was so sweet! I will cherish that video forever.

LOL! I love your proposal story and how you told your family, esp. their reactions! My parents knew my husband was going to propose so it wasn't a surprise for them. It was a big surprise for me though. My husband apparently went to my parents' house to ask for my hand in marriage a week before he proposed to me. I texted my parents shortly after we got engaged (we were overseas and I did not want to be charged $$$ for a phone call so I waited until we were back at the hotel and had free Wifi. LOL). They said "Congrats! We already know and we tried so hard to keep it a secret from you." LOL!

I had just finished a 14 hour hike with FH. We got into the car, rehydrated, then I sent them "I'm alive, and now engaged" text. Everyone is basically finally, as we have been together for over 8.5 years now

My husband and I only told close family and friends. We kept it off of social media because we want to keep our personal life private.
