How did you choose your dress??

I've tried on dresses 5 times now, 2x I went alone. Everyone has different opinions and I don't think sending iPhone photos around to my mom and bridesmaids is really doing the dresses justice. I'm in pretty good shape, so most of the dresses look fine on me, but I guess I'm having a hard time...

I've tried on dresses 5 times now, 2x I went alone. Everyone has different opinions and I don't think sending iPhone photos around to my mom and bridesmaids is really doing the dresses justice. I'm in pretty good shape, so most of the dresses look fine on me, but I guess I'm having a hard time picking one that's not too simple and reflects my personality. Some of the ones I've tried on seem like a dress I'd wear to an event, but don't seem special enough to be worn on my wedding day. I also feel like the stores I'm going to have all the same designers, Watters, Maggie Sottero, Martina Liana, Stella York, etc., so all the dresses look basically the same except some slight changes (pearl buttons, lower back, different neckline, etc). I feel like all the dresses are the same!

How did you pick your dress? Did you have "the" feeling?

Also any Los Angeles area store recommendations?

If you're in LA check out JLM Couture. I went with a Hayley Paige gown and my only regret is not driving down to LA to try on the new samples first!

I tried on a lot of dresses... to me the last thing that decided my dress is how comfortable it is... light breathable soft... pronovias Angelica if you want to check it out.

First pick which style you want... a line, ballgown

Then what kind of details would you want? Illusion too, long train

    Focus on that

    Good luck !

I had looked at 2 other shops looking for my DW dress.I took my FSIL advice and made a appointment with a local shop her friend is now the owner of.I had tried on so many dresses that day and none were it.I was tired, hungry, upset, ect.I was about to just settle.I went back out pulled more dresses.I wasn't expecting it to be the one, but,it was.I didn't cry,yet it made me feel like a princess and it fits perfectly.

I only went to one dress appointment. I knew it was the one when I put it on 3 times, I walked away from my group to look in a different mirror (more natural light) and I knew then, I didn't want to take it off.

OP to answer your second questions as to bridal shops in LA. Check out Lovely Bridal in Pasadena. They carry many beautiful, unique dresses and designers.

The first time I went dress shopping I left every store depressed because I couldn't find a dress or either it was way out of budget, but then I went to David's bridal picked a bunch of dresses and tried them on. The very first one I tried on almost made me cry because I looked like a bride in it, so I still tried the others on of course and I didn't feel the same way in any of the others so I chose dress #1. Not to mention my mom and sister did cry when I put the first dress on.

I went dress shopping and my dress, on the hanger, was nothing special. When I put it on, I felt amazing and I just loved the way it looked. I went home without it, and just couldnt stop thinking about it. So I went back and bought it! Trying it on the second time was so much fun because we just fiddled around with accessories for a while.
