How did you ask?

Riot, on May 30, 2020 at 8:04 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 5
I'd like to ask my uncle to give me away. He has always been very involved in my life, especially after we lost my father.

To note: I'm very much not an affectionate person with my family. Its always been frowned upon so expressing myself is very hard, which is why I'm asking for advice.

If asking in person is hard, try a personal letter. Or buy a blank inside card . Tell him you appreciate how many times he has been involved with you , just being there, and ask if he would do you the honor of escorting you down the aisle. Tell him there is no one you look up to more than him. Anything that is true, short, and sweet. Most people are greatly pleased to be asked.

What Judith said. Or, if you can have a phone call about a lot of other things, and let the subject come up naturally. Or you could write a script for yourself to follow on the phone call. Practice it on your FH.

I would say it just like that and in person. ❤

I wrote him a letter and gave it to him this morning. He responded with "I was wondering when you were going to ask" lol

Terrific! A lot of people don't talk about feelings easily. I am sure he has great affection for you, and is pleased.
