How can I stop being a bed hog?

HeatherS, on September 7, 2017 at 2:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

The title says it all...I'm a bed hog and it interrupts FH's sleep. I feel bad and I really wanna fix this. Neither one of us are sleep cuddlers. We go to our own side to sleep, but I seem to gravitate towards the middle. At my house, I sleep in the middle. I'm considering sleeping with a pillow beside me to block me from going too far. Have any of you had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

We got a king bed. Now I can move as I please and I do not disturb him

Yeah, we've definitely decided that once we get our own place, we're getting a king bed.

Putting a pillow in between is a good idea. H and I also use separate blankets; obviously that's more of a solution to a blanket-hog problem than a bed-hog, but maybe it would help?

I am the same!!! It's horrible and I can't help it either, I always wake up and FH is shoved in the corner. We have a queen now, but once we buy a house we are getting a CA King so he has more room lol

Get a king bed. Even if you are in the middle he will still have plenty of room

I can't speak for Bookcase, but as far as making the bed with 2 different blankets:

    I don't.

@Kendall California kings are narrower than Standard Kings..

I also agree with getting a King. We have a King and 10/10 so much better

I agree with PP. My FH is a bed hog and I'm a blanket hog/restless sleeper.

We upgraded to a queen bed and we both sleep under separate twin sized blankets.

Thank y'all for the tips! Due to space, we are unable to get a king quite yet. So I will try the pillow and maybe try to train myself with it at home. Or use two blankets. But the middle is so cozy! Especially all to yourself! Oh the sacrifices we make for love haha.

FH sleeps with the sheet and I sleep with the comforter.... we aren't sleep cuddlers either.... I think the pillow would help.... other than that, idk!

    Good luck!

King bed with two blankets is amazing - I'm so mad we didn't do it sooner!

We only have a queen (step up from a full) but we do have two separate blankets! And then extras!

When I was on vacation, I had to sleep with my mom and few nights and she said I hit her and rolled on top of her. FH has never complained about it though.

I also gravitate towards the middle, and I don't stop until I'm pressed against something (i.e. my FH). If your bed is in the middle of the room, you can try to push it against the wall, and sleep closest to the wall. It may help you gravitate away. Conversely, if you sleep on the other side and FH is against the wall, at least he won't have the fear of falling off. Also the pillow may help.

I am a bed hog and a blanket hog. FH gets so annoyed. We have a queen and it used to not be an issue, but apparently its getting worse lol. I now start the night by getting all the way on my side of the bed and we have a pillow between us. Neither of us likes to be touched when we sleep, but we will move it in the AM or before bed if we want to be closer. Then as far as blankets go, we have a sheet, a king size throw, and a king size quilt on the bed. We make the bed normally with the throw in between the sheet and quilt and usually once we go to bed, I take the quilt and the sheet and he takes the throw lol.
