How big is Rehearsal Dinner

O&L, on August 2, 2016 at 12:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

So I have been asked if I already made reservation (6 weeks away) for rehearsal dinner and if I print the invites yet (for rehearsal dinner). WW checklist is also telling me to book a "venue" for rehearsal dinner.

I am a little confuse because I thought rehearsal dinner is meeting two families together plus whoever involve in the wedding. That's total of 14 people.

I was just going make a restaurant reservation the week before. Am I missing something?

When including out of town guests, significant others, officiant, parents, and grandparents we ended up with 30. So we will be making a bigger plan. We are 4 weeks out though with no such plan though lol

Even though it's 6 weeks away, it's a good idea to make a reservation for 14 people! Go for it!

We booked ours a while ago. We sent a rehearsal dinner card with the invites (only for those who are invited to the dinner). I would look into booking somewhere now. You don't want to come down to it and not have anywhere to go.

We're having 24 people - bridal party and their significant others, parents and our officiant. We're having dinner at a nice restaurant.

We are doing the same as KristenBeez, only we have a total of 20. We decided to book the restaurant early. Booked it back in May.

Thanks everyone. I will make reservation tomorrow. I got confuse by the wording venue and invites, thinking if we are suppose to plan something like mini wedding reception and panic a little.

You should be inviting the significant others of you bridal party as well. I would invite your officiant and DOC (if you have one) as well. It's your choice to include your other family members. We invited bridal party families (not just significant others), immediate family, officiant and DOC and we had 55 people. Reservations early can't hurt.

Follow up question: should invitations be sent for the rehearsal dinner? Or just word of mouth is fine? We're not including OOT guests.

You could do word of mouth or we are doing online invites through Minted.com. They are free too.

I feel like our is really large. FMIL is hosting and just with people involved in the wedding we have around 50 (including everyone's dates...yay full Catholic Mass). She is taking care of the invitations.

I am inviting immediate family both bride and groom bridal party and out of town guest. Honestly I am expecting about 30-40. With just me kids FH our brothers sisters and Mom's it is easily 20 people and that doesn't include my bridal party

We just did a catered bbq on our nice patio. It can be really simple, even ordering pizzas at a park.

We did pizza, salad and beer at Oggi's Italian restaurant, super affordable, laid back and relaxed and created a private facebook invite for those invited.

Ok now follow up question. Can one you tell me exactly how you "rehearsed"? As in we were going to share finalize details time line and everyone roles, talk about it and such. Or do you actually do actual stage rehearsal?

I have only been to rehearsal dinner twice. One as last mins BM and one was for my brother. They just fed me and tell me when and where to show up! Lol

If it is the latter, I am going have to find somewhere with private room.

We don't have DOC, but this remind me to a few ladies who agree to be in charge of the day so they are in the loop. It's going up to 20 now Smiley smile

We have our venue that Friday so we are having it there. We are just having the bridal party and parents. Grandparents don't want to get a hotel that night and they live far away. So we are just going to do food trucks and just hang out!

We are rehearsing at the church in which our coordinator will basically run through the whole weddding and let everyone know where they should be. It includes bridesmaids walking down, the service itself, and departure.

Our wedding coordinator did three run throughs of our ceremony at the venue with us. We worked out all the kinks. Figured out details that popped up as we ran through it. I'm glad we rehearsed. Took about 40 minutes.

We rented a private room at a nice steak house for dinner afterwards. Invited our officiant and his family, our wedding party and their significant others, our parents, and out of town VIP guests. Had about 30 people. I ordered invites off Wedding Paper Divas and they were gorgeous. I did that so everyone had the restaurant address, the time, etc and so people weren't constantly asking me details of when and where. I'm also one of those people who loves doing things on the slightly formal side.

We wore nice attire and it was so fun to spend time with everyone without the pressure of it being the reception. And the steak was delicious!

FMIL booked the rehearsal dinner awhile ago, but our immediate family (Mom, Dad, Siblings, and Grandma) plus BP members and giving them a date came out to 30 people. You can always book in advance if you think you should.
