So here's the scoop -- my FH and I found out we're pregnant about a month ago and we're now 51 days out from the wedding. We're considering doing the legal part of the wedding earlier than planned because FH's medical insurance is INSANELY BETTER than mine. We've already done the research to make sure his employer will allow me to get on his insurance even though my employer does offer it and all that, so we're good to go in that area.

I just can't escape the feeling that I might feel like our wedding day (the one currently scheduled for October 26th) might feel less special or significant if we do this. So weigh in -- what would you do? Are you attached to the date you've set? Thanks Smiley heart

For about 2 years I have wanted to get married on 10/10/2020. When we got engaged and started looking at venues, the venue we fell in love with (and actually booked) was already booked for 10/10/2020. We ended up going the next week (10/17/2020) and after some time I actually think this days is so much better for us!! (Also my cousin said that she’s getting married on 10/10/2020)

Also I attended a friend of mine wedding who’s was actually married about a year prior to her “official” wedding. She has type 1 diabetes and her husbands insurance was so much better and cheaper than hers. So they just went to the court house and got officially married but they didn’t tell many people as they already planned to have this huge wedding a year later. I don’t believe it felt any less special to her because all I remember on her wedding day was how happy she was and how still she post about it all the time and how she says it was the best day of her life!

Thanks for sharing!! This actually makes me feel much better. We did end up doing a quickie ceremony yesterday (our officiant is a friend and she made it happen for us on short notice) because my company actually changed our entire insurance program effective October 1. We had no choice as there was no longer maternity coverage. But we kept it super short and stuck to the legally required bits in order to keep our official date special.

I would probably do the same if I was in your situation too! I know both days will be special to you and your spouse! Best wishes and I know you’ll have a beautiful wedding!!
