How are you supposed to request your bridesmaids wear a certain shoe?

Listen ladies you can choose whatever style you would like but please make the color black.

I told mine put any style you're comfortable in as long as they're silver.

I phrased mine a gold dressy shoe. There are very nice dressy wedge shoes or flats.

My bridesmaids all asked. I said same sort of thing, some sort of nice black shoe. We have a fb chat to keep in touch, it's not that big of a deal, everything should work out

Asking them to wear black shoes sounds perfectly reasonable, but I don't think you should ask them to wear heels. I have issues with the bones in my feet that make wearing heels pretty painful. They may not have issues like that, but they still might be uncomfortable in heels for whatever reason. And do you really want someone who doesn't normally wear heels to try to walk gracefully in them?

Just tell them. My sister told us the color dress to buy and that she wanted us to wear white shoes for her September wedding. She was adamant about it even though it was very, VERY hard to find white shoes after Labor Day (they got married in a hurry so we didn't have time to really buy the stuff). We did as requested and her wedding was beautiful.

Please don't force heels on people....

Umm, this is me in any height heels.

Let them wear flats if they want. No ones going to be zooming in on their feet.

My Bridesmaid range in varying heights. My wedding is in the summer and they are wearing a short dress. So I simply asked them to wear a black, strap, dress shoes of their choice. (I had to add dress because my MOH/best friend has a sick sense of humor.) Every BM has been perfectly happy and understanding with my request.

So don't be scared to ask and explain. They are still getting an opportunity to pick their own heels. Plus then you can always get creative and buy them cute flip flops or flats for the reception.

If you just state hey all I would really like if you wore a pair of black shoes for the wedding. Any kind you would like, just in black. I feel like that leaves nice an open for them to chose out of their closet but not to open they are like I need more guidance (I say that because I always need more guidance sometimes and prefer having clear directions

Like others, I have never found asking for specific color shoe to be too much (unless its something unique like bright pink or green, something not everyone has). Anything more than that is. If they dont have a black shoe, they can buy one fairly cheap if you give them enough time (there are always sales!)
