How are you preventing your PERFECT WHITE dress from getting too dirty, especially during pictures?

Emma, on April 20, 2014 at 9:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

This is one of my biggest concerns. My dress is SO perfect, that I'm scared of getting it dirty. It's ivory but it looks white and flawless. My ceremony will be at a garden. And my dress has a train that is a little long. And we are also taking pictures outside and everything. So I'll be walking around parks and other places. I don't know how brides deal with this. Do dresses get really dirty and people notice it?? How are you taking care of your dress during pictures and walking on grass or street?? Do dresses really get THAT dirty and is there a way to avoid this??

Lol. That's one of the reasons I went tea-length.

During pictures that my train will not be bustled my MOH will help me carry it. My train will probably still get dirty but only underneath not on top so no one will notice.

My MOH and BM's will be in charge of helping me keep my train off the ground while walking to various picture spots...

If your train is long as others have stated you are going to have to carry it around with you. Doesn't really matter who's helping but any help will be needed if it's long and cumbersome. It truly depends but logically if it's a place where their is dirt, wet grass etc your underside of your dress is going to get dirty. You really don't have to worry that much just be sure you carry it and that no one steps all over it during pics.

Im prolly gonna just to have to carry my train around unless when i do get it altered i can have something done to fix that if not my thinking on the dress being dirty is its gonna happen as long as its perfect during the ceremony im happy bc even if it does get little dirty nobody will notice let alone take pics of something so minor when the focus should every where else when taking pics than a dirty spot

My personal attendant is helping me carry mine. Also my MOH and Bridesmaid if I need more help. My PA will also be straightening out my train for pictures and whatnot. My dress has a kind of long train.

My dress is guaranteed to be dirty. I have a white ballgown and my photographer asked if we wanted to take pictures on the beach with the Disney World castle in the background. I would rather have those pictures and get my gown a little dirty than try and keep my dress perfectly clean all night, when it probably won't be anyway. it will come out.

It's like having a brand new car. Once you have the first scratch on it, you relax.

Do your best to keep it clean, but realize that it will get dirty.

We had to combat your fear last week during my bridal portraits. Bring a white/ivory pillow case/blanket/sheet with you as the photog can place that under your train when you're in the grass to prevent stains. My MOH and Mom and myself also picked it up a lot as we were walking around.

We were in grass 90% of my portraits, and everything was fine.

My train has a loop inside to help carry it as I assume most dresses have this as well. Until it is bustled, I plan on using this loop to keep it from dragging. We are planning to take pictures in the park if the weather is nice and it hasn't rained the days before. If the ground it wet, the pictures are off.

I'm honestly not worrying about this in the slightest. My MOH will probably carry the train for me for pictures and then we'll bustle it after. But the reality is it will probably get a little dirty and I'm going to have to live with that, lol.

My reception is outside. My dress will get dirty. It'll just be the underside of it though, so ultimately, I don't care at all.

I'm more worries about spilling something on myself. I'm just the tiniest bit clumsy.

I didn't even try to avoid it. My dress did get a little dirty, but it was nothing the cleaner couldn't get out.

I didn't really think about it. I let that sucker drag! I didn't bustle it for my bridal portraits and I was on grass, dirt, gravel and in a barn. It was fine and didn't even need to be cleaned.

If the train drags, usually only the underside will get dirty. Also, once it's bustled the underside should be tucked and out of site. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the ground is wet, then I would suggest having someone carry it.

Every time I move someone will help hold up the dress. Also I read if you get a small little stain somewhere to use white chalk on it, and it is supposed to help cover the stain Smiley winking

My seamstress is adding a loop inside so that I can hook it up onto my wrist if necessary. As long as it looks good for the photos I'm not too worried if it gets a bit dirty later on. My main concern is if it rains as then it's not just a bit of dirt on the underside, it would soak through. Fingers FIRMLY crossed for a dry, bright day! But this is the UK, so...

Your dress will get dirty thats just the facts - as long as you aren't walking through mud it shouldn't get too bad, plus the flash will out hide the dirt or they can always edit them afterwards if you are still worried. My dress only got dirty underneath so you couldn't tell in pictures, and I was walking through weeds, etc.
