Houston wedding budget

Tam, on November 18, 2016 at 7:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So based on my rough guest list, I have about 150 people (can't cut anymore cause they're all family minus maybe 10 close friends total). I saw somewhere online that a wedding that big in Houston is 20-30k. Does that sound right to you? I want to spend as minimal as possible while still hosting everyone properly.

Hey, I'm a fellow Houston bride. I feel like it depends on what you're trying to do and where you're trying to have your wedding. I think $30,000 may be a little off, but I could be wrong.

Remember, that's just an average. The average wedding for my area and guest size is between 33 and 55 grand... I'm not spending nearly that much.

@Tiffany if you don't mind me asking, how much are you spending? And how many people?

@houligantobe yeah i know im just trying to get a rough idea of how much were going to be spending

@Kate i think im gonna book a venue next year. I think the two year mark is when venues start letting you book

You can definitely get something for less than that. I am sales manager in the hotel industry. I work in The Woodlands. Try the Embassy Suites The Woodland/Hughes Landing, The Westin, or The Woodlands Resort. All of those are owned by the same company.

It really just depends on where you plan to have it and how elaborate and detailed. But I would say you are most likely looking at 20k for that amount of people

Oh cool! Thats really good to know. I'm in Sugar Land but driving to the Woodlands might be worth it.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in a venue, but I'll be getting married at April sound in conroe. It's the most affordable venue with the best quality that we found.

OP I live in Houston and you can most definitely spend less that that for 150 ppl it honestly depends on what you are looking for. You have to really weigh your options and see what all the venues include

It really depends on what you're getting. If you're getting an all-inclusive venue, that sounds about right. If you're doing something smaller and budgeting enough, you could have a beautiful wedding for $15,000 or less. You have plenty of time to find good deals, too!

Yeah, I'm trying to keep my budget at 20k or less. Me and FH are both undergrads in college right now and both of us are graduating may 2018 so we wont be able to afford a big expensive wedding by our wedding date. Thank you for all of your advice though! Ill be looking at venues in conroe/ the woodlands even though its a little further out. Downtown Houston is a bit too expensive for us.

Thank you Smiley smile I've been looking at venue websites but haven't actually toured yet. I might wait until summer to tour
