Savvy April 2011

Houston Area Brides....

thefuturemisses710, on November 6, 2009 at 9:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

When do you think is the best time of year for an outdoor ceremony & reception in our area? I know that the typical wedding season is in the summer, but our summers are so freaking hot! Right now, we are saying October of next year....but we haven't booked the venue yet because we have discussed waiting until April of 2011. I don't want to wait that long....but after considering how crazy our weather was this past October, I don't know if that will be a good month for an outdoor wedding or not. Inputs please! Thanks a bunch Smiley smile

I'm in San Antonio and I had an outside ceremony in September. Sometimes we start to get cool fronts in September, and sometimes it is hot too. You just never know. I would say late September or early November.

    Hi Future Mrs!

I live in Houston as well, and would advise you to think about early November. The weather now has been beautiful, and we don't have to worry about hurricane season anymore. (So thankful that we didn't have any this year!) The weather is very tempermental down here, altough Spring (all 2 weeks that we have of it Smiley smile ) is really nice. If I remeber correctly, this past April was very nice as well - not too humid and hot yet. Not matter what you decide, remember to have a back-up indoor venue in mind, just in case the weather isn't ideal for and outdoor wedding. Places like Courtyard on St James or even the Varner Hogg plantation etc., are great for a situation like this, as they have both indoor and outdoor ceremony sites.

I live in Dallas, but I shoot a lot of weddings in Houston. To me, the best would be late Oct or early Nov. March or April might be good, but I think you would have more of a chance of rain.

I am also in Houston. If you get married in October you have a 50/50 chance of having cool weather. There is no guarantee any time of the year. I mean we only have two seasons: hot and cold front. LMAO Though, seriously, I would just keep your date and hope for a cold front because April/May can be pretty hot too.

We're doing march, out on crystal beach(port bolivar peninsula/galveston), and we're it on the beach. i'm just going to put a little thingy inside my invites, like an FYI kind of thing, letting everyone know that since we will be on the actual beach, and having an outdoor reception, to be prepared to bring a sweater...

We didn't want it to be hot or cold neither (I live in Alvin), so we decided on October 24 of next year. That's close enough to November to hopefully be nice and cool by then. Smiley smile

My wedding was 10/7/2006 in houston and the weather was absolutely perfect!!! Houston weather changes often but my input is october and novemebr, its still pretty warm out here and its nice to be outside. just a bit of advice ceremony outside and reception inside. mine was at a country club, the grounds were beautiful and the ceremony was on a coverd patio and over looked the golf course, in the event that the weather is bad you can take the ceremony inside. look at country clubs, they are not nearly as expensive as alot of people may guess, and the food is awesome.

I would say November. Sept and Oct is kinda hot unless a cold front comes in. Late October and November are nice and cool and beautiful. I would also suggust a morning wedding. We all know that the weather loves to change in the afternoon.
