Hotels for guests.

Amber, on July 27, 2019 at 10:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
Is it acceptable to put a list of hotels inside of the Save the Dates? We have so many guests coming from out of town I don’t want them to be stuck last minute trying to find places to stay. We have talked to a few places but they would expect us to cover the cost of any hotel rooms unoccupied, not really worth the cost we might take on.

We just listed them on our website. With addresses and distance from our reception venue and a link to book.

We put our website on our STD, which has an accommodations page, where the hotels are listed.

I'd skip putting hotels on Save the Dates. As PPs said, your website is probably the best place to list that info Smiley smile

I’m actually not doing a webpage, so I wasn’t sure.

We put our wedding website on our SAD cards. That’s way people can choose to book a hotel or not.

See if hotels will do what’s called a “courtesy room block” which won’t leave you stuck with the costs of remaining rooms (always check your contract still though). We were able to do that. At the time when we sent save the dates our room blocks weren’t finalized but we wanted to get everything in the mail. Anyone who asked me about rooms I just texted them the info once everything was finalized. And then we put room info with the invites which are getting sent next week

This is what I did. They hold up to 10 rooms for free and the guest cover the costs. It's really convenient for them and cost effective for you.

As some here said already, we listed our hotel info on our website and printed the website info on the save the dates.

Perfectly fine . The only point of a STD is to let guests know in advance so that they can make plans, including travel and accommodation reservations . The Save, or any phone call, text, or email or letter to convey the same info, ranks as an informal communication. Enclosures about anything but registries or gifts ( or honeymoon funds, any type gift) are fine.

A lot of computer literate people never bother with a website. An enclosure will actually reach more people. But even if you put the website address on the save, still enclose any info. People who do not look at your website, often look at a link to it elsewhere and ignore . So anything g important, like transportation, or timelines, use the enclosure . ... I k ow a lot of people who set websites to know who consulted it, who found anywhere from 20-40 percent of people look at it, even if emailed a link, after having it on a save. Lots of people find most websites not worth reading. So do not make that your only place for important things .

I think it's fine! Since you aren't doing a website, I would also put the info on your invitations and anywhere else people may get information from such as a facebook page or whatever.

Yes! No website here- and the same thing, we’ve had friends put their website on their save the dates and most didn’t look at it. Thank you!!

I put my future mother in law in charge of coordinating out of town guests for their side of the family. They are all mostly from FL and the wedding is in CT. I researched places with her and she has been communicating to guests where the good spots to stay are. We also have a website on the back of our Save The Dates but in your case I suggest picking a few select people to spread the word. Everyone asks the parents of the bride and groom for details anyway.
