Hotels are full!!

Lydia, on January 22, 2020 at 8:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
I’m getting married this June. It’s somewhat of a destination wedding - all of my guests will be from out of town ... about an hour and a half away minimum. I have a block of 20 rooms at a hotel near my venue, but I am inviting 100+ guests. I just looked on a few travel websites to see what the prices were for hotels and what was available and so many hotels are already sold out!!! I have spent lots of time putting hotel options on my website and now they are all booked. What do I do? I wasn’t going to send out invitations for another month!!!! I’m totally freaking that no one is going to be able to come to my wedding 😭😭😭

I think, and I could be wrong, that the travel sites don't necessarily have all of the rooms. Each one like gets a set of rooms to sell, and when they're done with that then they say the hotel is "full". So the hotel itself might still have rooms! If you're really worried about it, you could see if any hotels will do a courtesy block of whatever rooms they still have.

Yes, you are correct... I’m just worried that there will be limited availability. Right now I’m frantically typing emails and calling hotels to see if it’s too late to block rooms somewhere else.

    How about an air BnB?

Yes. There are a few air bnbs in the area. A lot of them require a 2 night minimum... probably some guests will want to stay 2 nights anyway. I’m still just concerned at the limited availability... and I don’t even have my invitations ordered yet. I’m afraid that everything is going to be booked by the time my guests are looking for places.

Good luck! I also like Virginia's suggestion of an air bnb if that doesn't work.

I would look into securing a bigger block or a second block at another hotel. Call around and see!

You could always get another hotel slighter father away and book a bus to drive everyone back and forth. A friend of mine did that because she changed venues and the the hotel was farther than the original one. It worked it fine with the guests.

I called around and I think I can get another block. I’m waiting for them to get back to me. Thanks for your help!
