So question- how did you handle hotels for your guests? I am not going to do room blocks because i do not want to shell out money for that. Do you just suggest hotels near the venue? When do you do that? On the invitation? We are in Florida and have guests flying in from different places. I just...

Thank you in advance! Smiley smile

Thank you! May I ask when is your wedding? Just asking so I can have a gauge on when I would possibly need to reach out for the courtesy blocks.

    thank you again!

Having everyone in a central location is a good idea especially with shuttles being provided.

I did not do a hotel block either. I printed out a list of hotels with their numbers near my venue and put it with my invitations. I listed about 4 different hotels so that they can choose which hotel they would like to stay in. I printed out my list of hotels small enough that it would fit in the flap of the response cards.

    Here's what I did:

    1. I set up a courtesy room block through Hilton. They didn't make me pay anything! I gave them an estimate number of rooms, but I am also NOT responsible for any of those rooms that go unbooked. The catch is that guests have to book two weeks before the wedding to get in the block and get the group discount. Once May 29th hits, anyone who has not booked will not be guaranteed on the same floor and they'll pay full price.

I know not all hotels do this, but it could be worth looking into.

    2. I provided a link to a local, historical bed and breakfast. No block and no discounts, but the link is on my wedding website as an alternative.

I love this! There is a hilton and a marriott around my venue. I am going to have to look into this. How far in advance did you reach out to Hilton for the courtesy room blocks? Great input!

    Thank you,

I e-mailed in November since that's when I sent my Save the Dates out. I knew folks would be looking at the wedding website, so I wanted to have that information there! I don't think it's possible to reach out too early. They do cut off reservations for the block two weeks before the wedding, so I made that clear on my website:

This is perfect! Thank you so much for the insight. My save the dates go out in a couple of weeks so I will reach out to hotels and get this done. I love the details you provided about how far it is from your venue and how far it is from the airport. I feel like the list of things to remember is never ending. Haha
