Hotel Welcome Bags!

Lisa, on July 22, 2022 at 9:26 AM Posted in Planning 6 29
We finished putting together our hotel welcome bags! Here's what we included: two mini water bottles, his & hers snacks (his: pretzels, hers: chocolates), sunglasses, a deck of playing cards, a double-sided "Do Not Disturb" sign for the hotel door, a first aid kit (including travel sized ibuprofen, mini hand sanitizer, bandaids, and a couple small packets of tic tacs), a map of the area, coupons for area attractions, and a welcome note from my fiance and me. Thanks to Amazon, Oriental Trading Company, Etsy, and the trial/travel section at our grocery store, these were actually fairly cheap to put together!

Are you doing hotel welcome bags? If so, what are you planning to include in them?

Ooooh how fun, these came out awesome. I love love love love when couples do the favorite snacks it makes it a little more personal. Your guests will be thrilled to receive these. We are doing welcome bags and they ll be pretty similar water, favorite snacks, jolly ranchers, a drip drop packet, Advil, $5 Starbucks cards and handsanitizer, maybe a chapstick and an apple (since we are in ny so cheesy yes)... band aids are a good idea though I might toss in a few of those too. Along with a thank you note and schedule of wedding events and the shuttle times.

Thanks!! I had found the Do Not Disturb sign at Party City earlier this year, but when I went back to buy a second pack (we added more rooms into the room block, so I needed to make a few more welcome bags), they don't seem to carry them at my store anymore ☹️ so I had to find another alternative on Oriental Trading Company for some of the bags, but it all worked out. I can't believe it's only a week out!! So excited! Your day is coming up quick too!!

HIs brother and I bonded over our love of watermelon jolly ranchers and one yr for Christmas I got him a bag of only watermelon flavored ones haha so its a silly thing for us now. Drip drops are flavored electrolyte powders that you can add to bottled water. They are great after a workout, on an extra hot day, or if you have had a little too much drink. They sell a bunch of different brands but we love the drip drop flavors best. We were going to do a bottle of gatorade and a bottle of water but decided the packets were easier and people could decide for themselves if the need some extra electrolytes or just water.

These are so cute! We're not doing a hotel block because the majority of our guests are local and it didn't make sense to do a block for like 4 rooms. But I love these! The last wedding I went to had these. The groom's father and his partner actually put them together, and it was full of water and snacks and sunscreen - which was very cute. I LOVE the door signs!

Oh nice!! We're giving something similar to our wedding party in their hangover kits, but we got Pedialyte and Liquid IV. I've never heard of the Drip Drop brand, I'll have to check them out! We didn't include them in our welcome bags, but that is a great idea! I agree, the packets are probably easier. I love how you guys came up with your watermelon jolly rancher tradition, it's so fun to hear the stories behind each tradition!

This is such a great idea. I will definitely try to do this for the out of town guest. I'm just almost sure everyone will be staying with family members if that is the case what should I do. 💜

That totally makes sense on why you didn't do a room block! Almost everyone is traveling to attend our wedding, so we definitely needed a room block. Sunscreen is a smart idea, especially for an outdoor wedding! The door signs were an impulse buy, lol - I originally only bought one pack of 12, and then a couple months later realized I needed at least one more pack. But when I went back to buy more, I found out that the stores in my area stopped carrying them! So I had to buy some slightly different ones on Oriental Trading Company. They're good quality and they look nice, so it all works out.

These are awesome! I'm on the fence about doing them since most of our guests are going to be out of town, and a lot booked hotels other than where we have a block reserved at.

It's an optional thing for sure, but a nice touch if you have a lot of guests from out of town! If everyone is staying with family members, you could either skip the welcome bags, or drive around and drop them off at each family member's house (if you know where everyone is staying), or if you're doing a welcome party, you could hand them out to everyone there.

Many of our guests also booked at hotels different from the one where we have our room block. We decided to only do bags for the room block guests, since it'd be too much of a hassle to run around to everyone's hotels/Airbnbs to hand them out. Perks of staying in the room block!

Yea I love hearing about other couple's personal touches and inside jokes/traditions too. Liquid Iv is pretty much the same thing I just prefer the drip flavor variety packs. Before we lived together I used to hide packets of drip drops , peanut butter cups and a cute note just about every time I left his apartment haha. Your hangover kits sound awesome what else did you put in them?

Do you think the bags should have the same things....or close to. I may have to omit the door signs.....or no.

Haha aww, that's super cute that you'd hide those in his apartment! I bet he loved finding them. We put mini water bottles, ibuprofen, Pedialyte/Liquid IV, a small pack of tums, mints, a couple bandaids, and hand sanitizer into the hangover bags for our wedding party! We found the bags on Etsy a couple years ago, and some of them have some fun sayings. We got a few different kinds. Here's what some of them look like (these are the stock photos):
