hotel Welcome Bags - What and How Much?

Pancakes, on July 26, 2014 at 6:45 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

I called the nearby hotel yesterday for blocks. I wasn't thinking about the welcome bags but I keep hearing a lot about them. They can put them together for us for a fee. I know I can do it cheaper, but what did you put in your bags and approximately how much did you spend? Pictures appreciated! Thanks Smiley smile

I am not putting bags in the room instead setting up in the lobby to hand them out.

We are giving fudge (it is our family business) and jam or pickles or hot sauce info about the weekend (which I think is likely to be a door hanger that has info on it).

    We are including:

    2 bags of chips

    2 bags of cookies

    2 granola bars

    2 bottles of water

    Two packs of advil

    4 packets of emergen-c

    2 packets of alka seltzer

    2 tubes of chapstick

2 packets of bug repellant wipes

1 bottle of sunscreen (outdoor wedding)

    1 packet of gum

A couple of pieces of fruit

And maps of the area with a list of things to do

Each bag is averaging about $12 and we are doing 30.

I plan to put a bag in each room, either a plain blue Kraft bag or a personalized canvas one. I'm thinking of putting 2 bottles of water (with our personalized water bottle label on each), a mini pennant/banner of the two popular football and baseball teams here, a candy native to the state, cookies in our personalized clear cookie bags, other snacks - not sure yet but chips etc, a weekend lineup/timeline sheet, a map and guide book - what to do in the area, Advil pack, hot tea packets for our Fall wedding and a thank you note.

My sister had a DW in Chicago so everyone was from out of town. She had a personalized canvas tote and inside were a mini wine bottle, a can of beer that is only found there, pamphlets with different things to do, a customized "do not disturb" door sign, oh wedding toilet paper lol, and a little hangover kit for the day after the wedding that had Tylenol, water bottle, tums, gum. She also included a schedule for the rehearsal dinner and wedding day since we all had to meet in the lobby at a certain time so we could be picked up by the party bus.

ETA: they got most of the pamphlets from those stands you find in malls and hotels so that cost them nothing. The tums and Tylenol she got from the dollar store and I know those mini wine bottles are about $1 in most stores. She only had 30 guests so I don't think she spent too much on making these

Thanks, everyone. The hotel will make them for us if we just want to pay them. They are white bags with our wedding color tissue paper and a personalized message tag on them. They have a bottle of water, pretzels, medicine and gum. They are $7. I thought I could maybe make them cheaper, but I will have to price them out. We will have A LOT of out of town guests. I was thinking water bottles but also adding some of those water enhancers. That flavored powder you put in water bottles. They sell them at Aldi and could be cheap.
