Hotel Shuttle Advice

Sarah, on June 6, 2019 at 1:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hello all!

So have a dilemma. My hotel offers a complementary shuttle from the hotel to the venue before the wedding, then back to the hotel after the wedding. In fact, that was a huge reason I picked the hotel I did. The issue is that this service is only available if we have eight or more people book rooms. I would like to advertise the shuttle on my website/ details cards as I think it would be a huge incentive for people to book (anyone thats planning on drinking wouldn't have to worry about driving home). But I would hate for people to be relying on a shuttle that we might not have if not enough people book.

Side note- my venue is a log cabin that isn't particularly close to any hotels or amenities. It would be roughly a 15-20 minute shuttle ride. Most of our guests are local (about 90%), but we do have some that might enjoy drinking carefree.

Are you booking a room, will that count toward the total? Any bridesmaids/groomsmen booking? Close family? If you can confirm at least half or more you shouldn't have a problem filling the rest. I have "out of town" guests that live 30 minutes away from my venue but they are booking a hotel through the block because they want a night out.

The hotel we plan on booking has a shuttle as well. It is free as long as so many rooms are booked or else we have to pay for it. We are kind of local but it would be at least a 15-40 min drive for everyone to get home, and knowing our friends we are thinking a lot of them will stay. I was thinking about texting people to find out if they were thinking about staying at the hotel the night of just to get an idea because like you I don't want to offer a service we may not use if its not free. I am also looking for a little advice on what other people have don't or how they have handled this.

You can still put it on your website. Just add something like "Pending 8 rooms or more get booked, there will be a free shuttle service......"

Like Lauren said, what close family and bridal party members are attending? we have a similar situation, but ours is a minimum of 10 rooms. Both our parents, two sets of grandparents, one set of siblings, two groomsmen and two in the bridal party bring us to nine. Almost all of our guests would be out of state, so it wouldn't be too hard to get that final room.

I also think that depending on where your venue is in proximity to the 'local' people, that they would want to stay over. I have a bridesman that would be considered 'local,' but it would still be at least a half hour drive to the venue.
