Hotel room blocks with credit card

I would not provide my credit card. That's terrifying.

I had to do the same thing. have it in three calendars to call hotel by deadline and cancel all unused rooms

Mine also did not require a credit card on file, and the rooms are released after a certain date. But they do charge me for any unbooked rooms.

I had the same situation, so when I told them I was not interested in using the credit card option, they suddenly were very accommodating and offered reduced room rates. The rooms aren't actually blocked off, but it's better than the other option.

I work for a company that books events for conferences. In a business setting, that is normal -ish. (We guarantee rooms and if we don't meet that guarantee, then we end up paying).

For a wedding, you should be able to get a courtesy block where none of that is required. We were able to book courtesy blocks at 3 hotels. I would ask about that. If it's not an option, I would keep checking with other hotels.

A credit card is a standard, def not unusual or out of line. Different hotels hold different policies.

Have you speak to the sales manager make sure you understand exactly what's going to happen. The sale manager there to help you set up and understand the procedure.
