We did not. We had talked about it since our venue which was a hotel asked if we were going to have them, but we decided not to. We hadn't even thought about them until they asked. We felt it was an unnecessary expense.

I wanted to just for fun, but I’ve honestly just run out of money. So the hotel bags, favors, and a few other things I wanted to buy are out the window.

Definitely not necessary. I did them just because we had people who came from pretty far away and our hotel was pretty expensive so I felt like it would be nice to give them a little something when they arrived. If it’s not in your budget don’t stress about it. It’s not needed

They arent necessary at all and are definitely a newer trend.
My mom was super excited to make them for our guests so she took those on.

Not necessary at all but we did them. We just did snacks and drinks, a welcome note from us, and the weekends schedule of events along with the shuttle schedule.

I'm still on the fence with them. Majority if my fiance's family will be coming out of town so I think it would be a nice to have but it's mostly going to come down to our budget. Plus we're serving chicago style food for our wedding so we may just skip out on the goody bags and maybe just make a list for the out of towners or things that can see and do.

The only think I have ever appreciated from the times people have made guest bags for us, has been easy non-messy type edibles. All the bottles of wine, programs, chocolates, mugs or decorated tumblers, sewing kits and such, we have always left behind untouched. So when my FMIL and Mom wanted to do them, with all guests and family away from home, they made dozens of cookies and brownies in ziplock bags. And an even dozen each loaves of cranberry bread and date nut bread. And cream cheese, and marmalade to go with them. Everyone stayed in one of two places, so we put things in the lobby. And all gone in the first 24 hours before the wedding. A 3 day weekend, some people were pulling out baggies of cookies they had stashed for 3 days.
The Inn and the resort motel had inexpensive vending machine juices and sodas. And both places kept coffee and tea and cocoa available 6 am to midnight.

We only had a couple people come from out of town, so I did them. I did a 20oz of coke, a small bottle of Jack, moonpies, googoo clusters and a note. (I live in Nashville and these are local treats). I also added tailmix, which wasn’t local, but I thought a great snack for after the wedding.
It didn’t cost much but running around last minute to grab the last of the things was a pain.

I'm waiting to see how many people are staying at the hotel that our ceremony is going to be held at. There are lots of hotels in the area so I am guessing some will stay where they have loyalty points, less expensive, etc. If we get a good turn out, I will probably do something, at least a hangover kit, bottles of water, etc.
