Hotel for Wedding Night

Arielle, on June 13, 2019 at 12:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

How far in advance would you book your hotel room for your wedding night and start blocking rooms off for your guests? We are getting married May 2020.

Im getting married June 2020 and hotels were one of the first things I did (back in December) that might have been a little to dramatic but it never hurts to be prepared!

    Hello!

I am getting married next Friday. I will suggest if you know where you want to stay your wedding. I would go ahead and reserve it(hopefully you can book now pay later). I know when we went to book a room most of the suites were already booked and the price a bit steep. However, I think the sooner you reserve it the better you will be.

    Congrats on everything.

I would think it would be a better idea to do it sooner than later too

We set up our block 1 year in advance, because we included it in the save the dates since we had a lot of out of state guests. That was our main one, we set up a cheaper one a few months later. I booked our hotel room right away since I wanted a suite and our hotel only has 3.

We're getting married next February, and we booked our hotel room for after the wedding last month! I wanted to make sure we could get a good rate on the room!

The hotels told me I had to wait til 8 months out so that’s what I did. I would just call and ask what they recommend.

I am April 2020 and the WeddingWire checklist recommended for me to book hotel blocked before September this year so I would recommend doing it before October. I am looking now since I have the time and most of my guests will be out of state so I need a lot of rooms.

I’m October 2020 and we are researching now, trying to lock down by the end of the month. Asheville in October is basically the busiest month of the year though - so you might not need to be quite so aggressive Smiley smile also basically all of our guests are from out of town / state so we will need a lot of rooms!

I would start looking into it now, especially look to see if there are any special events the same weekend as your wedding. For example, some cities host marathons and those hotels will book up to a year in advance.

The earlier you make your room block, the cheaper the rooms will be. I’m getting married October 2019 and I made our room block in February of 2019.
We booked the cabin we are staying in on the wedding night the same day we booked our venue.

Do it as far in advance as possible but not less than a year. I waited until 8 months and kind of got screwed

We did our block and booked our room about 10 months out. I had a lot of out of town family bugging me about it so it was easier to get it done early than have them keep asking me. Also there was only 2 of the type of suite we wanted in the hotel so I wanted to make sure we got one.

With hotels, the sooner the better, always. I work in a hotel and you wouldn't believe how fast they can book up, especially during the summer time.

I did it about 5 months beforehand and there were barely any rooms left. Apparently there is another woman getting married in the small town I’m getting married in and she went to every hotel in town and blocked 1/2 of the rooms on each hotel.

I would start now. It is better to block things off a little farther in advance than not and run into no place for you and or your guests to stay!

Our wedding is December 7th and we finalized our room blocks in February. We live in a busy metropolitan area so good hotels book quickly.
