Hotel discount...not so much of a discount.

Daniella , on October 19, 2017 at 5:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Good morning all. Congrats to all the newly weds and soon to be weds. First time posting here. Please be gentle....lol. So I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she called the hotel I am having my wedding at to reserve a room and was told the discounted price was $260 ($345) with taxes and fees a night. WTF. My FH called and was told the same thing. Realistically....I'm not surprised since it is a beach resort. You guys seem to give grade A advice so I was wondering if anyone knows of a car service I can hire to transport out of town guests to different hotels if they choose to stay elsewhere or any other options as I'm trying to be the best host possible? My venue is in St. Pete Beach, FL area.

Ubers are very easy to get in St. Pete beach. I am guessing your Hotel is the Don Cesar, it is gorgeous.

Oh goodness no...lol...their rooms run $450 and up a night but it is beautiful. It's actually Grand Plaza. And I was definitely thinking about Uber but I want to be responsible for the cost. From what I understand you have to be the passenger in order to use your account.

I am getting married on St. Pete Beach too and the rooms are definitely pricey. I did find through WW some other hotels that were cheaper and not to far away. I am getting an uber code for my wedding and there are also taxis that run up and down St. Pete Beach that only take tips.

Did you check on hotels.com, priceline etc for how much it is to book through that site as opposed to the actual hotel? We had a similar problem with our hotel. Guests were scheduling through outside vendors for a better price and when we alerted the hotel, they immediately lowered the rate.

We're running into the same issue with the beach resort we may book with. They won't do a room block, and rooms are $293/night. :o There's a few other hotels about 5-10 minutes away that are less since they're not beach front. There's also Airbnb. We're considering renting an Airbnb for my parents, and his brother to stay at. That way they can get ready there. However even I won't spend $300 for one night simply so I can get ready there.

I forget about the Uber thing! Thanks for reminding me to check it out. Smiley smile

@Hisbeauty....exactly. I am not willing to spend $300 myself especially since I am already spending over 20K with them....and bride and groom don't even get a complimentary room on wedding night.

@MrsBobby....yes we are...I found some really good deals on Priceline.com for nearby hotels. I'm assuming that is what my guest will do also. I plan to give everyone different options on my wedding site.
