Hotel Blocks

Marycris, on December 20, 2020 at 3:09 AM Posted in Planning 1 13

I'm trying to find a hotel to block rooms for our guests, who by the way are mostly coming from out of state. Has anyone found any hotel that is ideal for their guests? I don't want them having to pay a fortune since everyone is already flying in.

What state are you looking in?

    Hotels really are so diverse.

Not sure where you live or what the options are but we found Hilton Garden Inn easy to work with. We are not responsible to pay for any rooms. Any unblocked rooms just get released to the public a month before the wedding. They have a hotel bar that we are going to use as an after party and a private room where we have brunch set up the next day.

Wedding Wire has a hotel block feature that gathers information and rates about hotels in your area for comparison and review. I found the feature extremely helpful in identifying and make narrowing down hotels for room blocks.

I’d ask your venue if they have a list of hotels they use for out of town guests.

Sometimes hotels near a venue have a discount and possible shuttle to that place. I have 2 options fir my guests if they want to be near the airport or near my venue

I've been using the wedding wire hotel block finder. It works great because you can request quotes from any hotels in the area that you choose. Good luck!

We had a very similar experience to Lauren, and we worked with a Marriott hotel. We also considered a Hilton hotel but we went with this particular Marriott because we knew we wanted to get ready in the hotel and they had a fancy marble lobby with chandeliers and a grand staircase for our first look. Once we contacted them, they immediately prepared a block for us, and provided a discounted rate for our guests. We also used a private room in the hotel's restaurant for the farewell brunch we hosted the following morning.

We will be using a Hyatt for our block. They've been super easy to work with so far, and like some other PPs, they've been great at helping arrange the goodbye breakfast that we're having for guests in the hotel restaurant the day after the wedding. We'll also be getting ready in the hotel and having our first look in the hotel lobby before we head to other photo locations.

We used a Courtyard by Marriott near our venue which was great. I tried using one of the wedding hotel block finders and I just got quotes from hotels pretty far away from the venue for some reason. I ended up just calling a few hotels closest to the venue with good reviews and then went with the Courtyard.

We used a Hyatt, but most major chains will do block rates for you.

Any major hotel will offer this. Look up the top 5 highest rated hotels in your city and call to find out what their rates are to decide the best one.

It depends on location, hotel brand, etc. We just emailed & made some phone calls, most hotels will give you an option for this. The cost will differ from each hotel. We're having a courtesy hotel block which means we're not financially responsible for any of the rooms not used by then.
