Hotel blocks more than one

CountryBride, on January 11, 2021 at 5:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I have never done this so please be nice, 95 percent of our guests are coming from out of town and will need a hotel. Do I do more than one hotel room block due to some of our guests are broke college students and some are well off that I don't want to offend based on reserving a cheaper hotel? or do I just pick one hotel and hope everyone can pay for their room?

Our venue was a hotel so we only had one hotel block. Most of the people choose to stay at our venue. Those who didn't even drive one (about an 1.5 hour drive) or stayed at an Airbnb. My brother-in-law didn't get married at a hotel, but only had one option for guests to stay at. I think because it wasn't that large of a ton. You could be nice and offer to different options. I would just make you that you don't get stuck paying if people don't reserve the rooms. I've seen some people mention this happening to them.

Thank you for your feed back, After thinking about it we are going to do a room block of one hotel that's right in the middle range

I didn’t do a block at all. I listed all the hotel and I let them decide

Sounds perfect! Glad you were able to figure out a solution. It seems like hotel blocks are pretty commonly questioned thing that I'm glad I didn't have to worry about.

We did just one block. The people who wanted to stay somewhere cheaper simply found other places on their own!

We did two but that was because one of the hotels (which is super close to our venue) has a waterpark and we know some of our older guests won't want the noise after a party. If one hotel will have all the things you think your guests need then feel free to just have one.

We chose to get room blocks at 2 different hotels. They were different price points, and we wanted our guests to have options. But there is no wrong answer here.

I called around to several hotels in the area of our venue for hotel blocks. Some required a 2 night stay & some didn’t. I included all the info in the invitations.

I called a few cheaper hotel & AirBnB options and listed those on our wedding website—but we didn’t get hotel blocks at those.

I just reserved my hotel blocks a couple weeks ago and decided to book with two different hotels. I have lots of friends in college, so I booked half of the rooms at a lower priced hotel and half at the higher priced hotel. Hope that helps!
