Hotel Accommodations

Katelyn, on March 15, 2021 at 10:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Our Venue is about 45 minute- 1hour way from where the majority of our guests live. Our friend group (Bridal party + a few others)has some pretty heavy drinkers. I was planning on offering Uber vouchers in case someone drinks too much to make sure everyone gets home safe, but after some checking I've found that it would be cheaper to book some hotel rooms near the venue (plus it seemed like a good idea because that would be a long day for the bridal party.) Has anyone ever done this? Should I book rooms for just the bridal party and let others book their own? I want to be as accommodating as possible, but I also don't want other guests to find out and think its rude that others got to stay in a hotel.

If you have a wedding website, I would just recommend a few hotels in the area if case people what to stay overnight, but I wouldn't book anything for anyone including your bridal party.

See if the hotels offer a complimentary room block. The hotel sets aside a certain number of rooms rooms gives your guests a rate discount. Unbooked rooms go back to general sale about a month before the event. It doesn't cost you anything.

I would do a room block at a local hotel. If your guests choose to get a room, they can. You can put the hotel information on your wedding website. As far as your bridal party... mine all rented an Airbnb and stayed together close to our venue. They could do that or rent from your room block.

I second this! Definitely ask a few hotels near your venue if they will do a complimentary room block and choose one from there based on rate, distance, quality, etc. Most will also add more rooms to the block if your initial amount (usually 15 room nights) get booked up!

    I agree with this!

I wouldn't book a room for anyone, just call the hotel you're wanting everyone to stay at and block off rooms in case people want to reserve one! We're doing this, and will have all of that info on our wedding website. We will have the hotel we've booked rooms at, and the reservation cut-off date, but we'll also have hotels around the area that they can stay at as well if they don't like the one we picked!

I just wouldn't BOOK rooms because it sounds like you aren't sure whether people will need them or not, so it's better to block off rooms just in case, than book them and possibly lose money.

I would just do a courtesy block at the hotel closest to the venue and guests can decide themselves if they want to book rooms or not
