Hotel Accommodations

Megan, on September 10, 2020 at 12:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hello fellow brides!

I'm currently in the (very early) stages of wedding planning, and being that myself and FH have about 70% of our guests coming from out of town, we are planning to have a large hotel block. I've seen people send out hotel accommodation cards with invitations, but don't you feel like that's too last minute? I feel like with so many coming from out of town, I should include that information with save the dates, about 12 months out (planner suggested at least a full year due to our wedding being soon after the holidays).

Would you send accommodations with save the dates or invitations?

We included the link to our wedding website on our save the dates. The information about our hotel block was on our wedding website, so guests could book hotel rooms early on. We sent the save the dates roughly 8 months before our wedding date.

You could but most of my guest still waited last minute to book their hotel room. We had a link the hotel gave us to book and shared it with all the wedding party and told them to share it with anybody who may need it before we sent out invites.

My hotel block is on my website and my website link is also on my STD. I’m also going to include an accommodation card in my invites as a reminder because I’ve learned from other brides I know that guests definitely book last minute, or usually at least when they typically book their flights.

Ours were on our wedding website and that information was on our save the dates. I do think that waiting for the invitations may be a little late. We also personally sent the link to anyone who we knew or would be interested in getting a room

I would put the hotel info on your wedding website, and send the website out with the Save The Dates. When you send out the invitations, include hotel info on a details card with the invitations, and make sure they're sent out with plenty of time before the room block reservation deadline.

Are you having a wedding website? If so, I would definitely put that info on the website then say something to the effect of “for further info & hotel accommodations please visit our website” on the save the date.

Yep send out with your save the dates! Most hotel blocks release any unhooked rooms a month before your wedding date anyways.

We put our website on our save the dates, and our website had links to our hotel blocks.

This is what we did. Outside of husband's immediate family and us, no one booked their room until around the deadline for the room block to close (which was a month before the wedding). We sent out invitations about a week earlier than the standard timeframes to accommodate the room block reservation deadline.
