Horsehair hem regrets?

Spark, on June 22, 2022 at 8:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Anyone get a trendy horsehair hem dress and regret it? I love everything about the dress until the bottom trim but was told removing it would mess with the dress structure.

The horsehair seems like a nice but different look. But if the look still bothers you, could add a ruffle or other style of material over it.

I really like a horsehair hem, but eventually in alterations, my seamstress cut it off and moved up the appliques. I got to keep it on my detachable overskirt as it trailed behind me. Here is the full version with model in pink. Horsehair hem regrets? 1

Thanks for the pictures. Was it cut because you didn't like it or due to length?

I'm so torn. Also nervous to have removed. I don't want to mess dress up. Do you feel it altered the dress structure at all?

I think it was cut due to length. They didn't provide an option to keep it, and I was surprised. I would have liked the horsehair hem, but maybe the 3-D flowers, and lace appliques ultimately lengthened me by extending to the edge. I had 8 or 9 underlayers in my mermaid gown.

Would you like to post a picture of your dress so we can see? Did the seamstress say it was impossible to remove?

Most dresses that have horsehair in them won't lay right if it's removed. It's used to help keep the shape of the gown.

Hi I'm referring to the actual hem. The thick hem on the bottom of dress that seems to be a trend right now.
