Hors d'oeuvre????

Fatima, on August 12, 2019 at 4:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

Hello guys!

My wedding will be in just few months. The ceremony is at church at 4pm and reception starts at 6pm. My FH and I are planning to arrive to make our gran entrance around 6:30 pm. The program looks something like this:

4:00 pm ceremony
5: 00pm ceremony ends (catholic mass)

6:00 pm reception starts
6:30 pm "Gran entrance"
7:00 pm dinner is served

Do you guys think we need to have h
ors d'oeuvres?

please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks!

F

Yes. There's a good hour (or longer if anyone arrives early) between the start and dinner. People will be hungry after a church ceremony. The good news is you don't have to do anything crazy. Cracks, veggies, fruits, are all you need.

If your guests will just be hanging out for an hour, definitely feed them.

I would definitely feed them. That’s a pretty long break. Food makes people happy while they’re waiting.

We will be taking pictures at church until probably 5:30 pm. After that everybody can go to the venue. The venue is 20 minutes from the church.

Yes, for sure. That is right before dinner time and people will be hungry. But also, what are people supposed to do for the 1 hour between your ceremony and reception? Is that for travel time? Since people will also have 30 minutes of waiting on you and your then husband to arrive, having food will be nice.

Yeah, I would do something for them to snack on while they wait. We are doing a similar timeline to you, I’m leaning towards a cheese plate and maybe some chocolates for cocktail hour.

You don't need anything passed but a nice table with some veggies, dip, crackers, and cheese would probably make everyone pretty happy.

Yes, I would have food available as people are arriving at the reception location — something to entertain them while they wait for your arrival!
