I found our Photographer on this site. She got sick at our wedding, continued to take pics but everyone could tell something was wrong. It got to a point where she was not communicating at all as far as posing or directing everyone where to stand. A family member took over her job and at several points in the day had her camera. After communicating with the photographer how unhappy we were we all decided it was fair for her to keep the deposit but we got a majority of our money back. Well, today when I received the pictures I just feel like we were completely scammed 80% of the pictures are bad candids, the group shots that we managed to get were off center, over exposed and washed out. We don't have one pic of anyones face walking down the aisle only their backs. My husband says I should leave it alone since she was so inexpensive and we already got most of our money back. But I'm just wondering should I confront her further or just leave an honest review and keep it moving.

I would like more details too Natalie! How much did OP pay? What experience does the photographer have? If so many others were getting sick also, what kind of environment was provided?

I'm glad to hear the photographer was accomodating but I would like to hear the details.

Since the only thing you could get back is money... I wouldn't reach out anymore.

    Sorry this happened to you!

No, it's not an argument for plugged in ceremonies and receptions (the receptions almost always are). It's an argument for doing due diligence in your hiring.

But if it was 90 degrees and other people were getting sick too? That's a bad plan.

It sounds like there were a couple of decisions here that weren't really well thought out.

Dead horse beating over. You got most of your money back, I don't know what else can be gained from marching on with it. Move along and congratulations on BEING married, the most important thing.

She already gave you a refund, and she obviously can't redo the photos.. what do you hope to gain from confronting her further?

It was a twenty minute ceremony outdoors in a completely shaded area. Everything else was indoors. But weather and illness are unpredictable, it was actually supposed to storm that day. I don't blame her for getting sick. I am just letting it go at this point. I'll only leave a review. But my main issues was presick she was telling us where/how to pose. After she got sick multiple ppl tended to her, she said she was ok but she stopped doing her job. She wasn't speaking or posing any of the group pictures, just stood there. We did get awesome pics from guest. The wedding in my opinion and from feedback was great I loved it! But no one plans a prefect wedding

That is horrible. It is best to have engagement sessions so you can see the quality before hand also a second shooter.

What do you mean when you say "got sick"? Do you mean like throwing up? Passing out? Coughing? Heat stroke?

You say you "got sick" too. Was there bad food served or something?

I've read this a few times and I'm still wondering why so many people were getting sick?

Definitely leave a factual review and let it go. I was going to suggest what Jay did, and say you should look into scheduling a photo shoot with a different photographer with you and DH dressed up in your wedding dress and tux again and get some awesome photos of the two of you to add to your wedding photos. Use some of the money from your refund from the original photographer.

What kind of sick was everyone getting at your wedding?!

I'm not sure why you ppl are being so dramatic about the being sick part Me and my guest were well taken care of. Things just happen. The post isn't even about that.

Umm, if multiple people got sick at an event, inquiring about as to why isn't being "so dramatic"; it's showing concern.

Yea if she was cheap and you got a good amount back, leave a review in a lot of places and move on. Stinks to have been sick if she was really sick. I'm sorry!

Oy. I'm sorry you didn't get good photos. There are a few details missing that would help in understanding the situation more. I'm curious how much your original photography package cost. I know price isn't *everything*, but it's often a good indicator of skill/experience. Did this person have wedding experience before? Did you see lots of *full galleries* (not just portfolio highlights)? You said that your husband said to "let it go" because it was "inexpensive" as it is. Does that mean it was inexpensive to start? Or only after getting your money back (minus deposit), it was inexpensive? You said the ceremony was "only 20 minutes" outdoors, but the photographer very well may have been there for an hour or so beforehand to get venue/outdoor/getting ready photos. The fact that i was extremely hot and other people were getting sick is a big red flag as far as hosting and I can't blame someone for not feeling well in extreme heat. I find it odd that the photographer gave her camera to guests to use to take photos when she got sick (I would not do this), so it makes me wonder about her experience. Even if she didn't give too much direction, she still should have been able to salvage some photos after the fact when editing (make them NOT off center, correct for exposure so they are NOT washed out, etc.). The few details you did provide make it sound like she was not a professional photographer.

At this point since you received a refund, your best bet is simply to leave an honest, factual review on a website(s). Tell people about your experience, but try to leave emotion out of it.

It's true people getting heat sick is a hosting faux pas but also a wedding photographer taking on Summer weddings needs to know they have endurance in those conditions. But those are all valid questions.
