Hope for June 2021

Chelsea, on February 4, 2021 at 1:15 PM Posted in North Carolina Planning 4 21

I hadn't really been stressing about the wedding. I've been engaged since December 2018, so I've had everything planned out for a while!

In the last update from the NC governor, they stated that all religious ceremonies (including weddings and funerals) were exempt from the gathering limit. However, my venue just informed me that it applies to the ceremony only. Therefore, I can have as many people as I want at my ceremony but I can only have 10 for the reception.

SO FRUSTRATED.

FH wants to just have a small wedding at our church then host a larger event at the garden next Spring. I kind of just want to knock it all out now. Hopeful that things we'll turn around before then.

Any of NC brides getting married in June 2021? What's your plan?

I’m in this same boat! June 2021 wedding in NC. Our original number was 160 and now we are looking to cut it to 75. We are hopeful that 75 people will be safe and thankfully our church is pretty lenient as we have church in person currently and have space to spread people out. We made the decision to cut just due to wanting everyone to feel comfortable and it is much easier to space out 75 than 160 (and cheaper lol) and hopefully we will not have to make more cuts!

Used to live in NC for 6 years! No matter where I am, we decided to cancel the wedding since our loved ones are too afraid of gatherings. We now plan to elope. And possibly have an outdoor cake and punch reception at my in-laws house for immediate family only.

I'm getting married in Asheville, NC on April 17th. We have been preparing since February 2018. Thankfully our venue is able to work with the requirements for our ceremony and reception.

My reception is at a bar on a golf course that has a banquet hall & a huge outdoor patio that flows with the banquet hall, so because it’s technically at a restaurant/bar we are still good to go as of now. The hall can seat up to 150 guests. I planned on inviting about 120, however I’m going to not send out invitations to all 120 people. I’m going to downsize it to about 80 & go from there. I would rather make the cuts now then send out an invitation to someone then tell them they can’t come after.

June Bride here getting married in Charlotte. The latest update from our venue said they are at a 30% capacity which covers our current guest list. We’re moving full steam ahead with our plans knowing we may have to be flexible.

Supposedly, there's going to be another update at the end of the month, so I'm hoping that'll work out in our favor! Right now, we have 140 guests and the venue's max is 150, so 30% would put us at 45 guests (which is certainly better than 10), so I'd take it, haha. I'm hoping by June we can at least have 100.

We're getting married at a Botanical Garden, so we have plenty of space outdoors for the ceremony. The only issue with the reception is that I can only have a dance floor indoors, and they don't permit dancing without a dance floor. If we do it outdoors, we can have more guests (50), but wouldn't be able to dance. Frustrating!

There's supposed to be an update at the end of the month. Surely by June, we'll be up to 75 people at least. I'm hoping for more like 100, but we'll see!

Fortunately, we live near the NC/SC border so the wedding will be in SC. We are still opting to have the ceremony and reception outdoors for the safety of our guests. It's in June so I'm just worried about the heat and/or rain.

My church isn’t imposing the limits to the reception. I’m going forward with our plans as if covid didn’t exist. The reception will immediately follow the ceremony. I wish I had been planning for longer but we just got engaged January 16th! It’s been a whirl wind of planning. I was completely surprised by the proposal so it was completely from the ground up with the plans. And YES I’M A NERVOUS WRECK!!!

Hi Kim! It looks like religious ceremonies are exempt from the mass gathering limit (so not sure why the chapel has a limit). However, it is for the ceremony only — in other words, the reception is limited to whatever the state mandate is. I got my information from here:

    https://www.nc.gov/covid-19/staying-ahead-curve/phase-3-extension-faqs-executive-order-176#which-gatherings-or-other-events-are-not-subject-to-the-10-person-indoor-mass-gathering-limit

    Hope for June 2021 1

I live on the VA/NC line! Unfortunately, VA isn't much more lenient, so I don't have much of an "out" in this situation. I'm rolling with it and just hoping for the best!

My husband and I were officially married last June on our original date, but postponed the “wedding” to this June 2021. Our venue has told me they are only allowed 30% capacity, which for a wedding of 25 guests, will work. However, my wedding planner seemed uncertain about what that meant in terms of the specific room we rented at the resort, and ALL of our guests are traveling from NY and VT where there are very strict regulations about travel. I’m hoping things change— and they can. It’s only February, but I am equally freaking out!!! Stay strong!!

We moved our wedding date 3 times. Now it is scheduled for June 2021 in Chapel Hill. We dont know what we are going to do, trying to figure it out now. We initially made our plans in Spring 2019 when we got engaged. All the big vendors have been booked and deposits down, so pivoting to an elopement at this point means a loss in over 15 thousand dollars for us. We remained hopeful and pushed and pushed again. The one thing I was looking forward to the most in a wedding was a bid dance party with everyone we love, and that seems like the most unlikely thing to be possible. Its so sad. Ill update you once we know what our plan will be for June

I’m getting married in June in NC. My venue has a limit of 100 people. We first started with 200 but I am doing the 100 then live streaming for the rest of my guest. We are also thinking of doing an outside after party so guest can further enjoy due to the venue’s restriction of no guest are allowed to dance.

No guests allowed to dance, what a nightmare! Who comes up with these rules as the rest of us suffer? clearly someone already married

Our locations hasn’t applied any restrictions regarding Covid. I’m not sure if it’s both locations are outside. They’re more concerned about people wrecking their propertyand loud noise.
