Have the groom enter the reception solo for the grand entrance, to the surprise of guests. Have the Master of Ceremonies makes some comments about the bride still primping or getting detained. Then immediately begin the mother/son dance, while the bride is out of the room. Then, a short video tribute, in which the bride voices a special message to her dad, can be played. With the lights back up, the bride makes her grand entrance in style and share the first dance with her new husband

My Father passed away last week, suddenly from a motorcycle accident, in the midst of all of the wedding planning.. I love my FH but I'm not looking forward to the wedding anymore, now that the most important man in my life, wont be there. My parents got divorced when I was 6, and my we lived with my father and he raised us. I'm trying to find the best way to honor him and make sure I do as much as I can to make sure he knows how much I would have loved for him to be there

My dad passed away in June. He had been sick for awhile so what I did was have a small ceremony at my parents house before he passed so he could see his baby girl get married and give me away. The wedding is this Friday, December 16th, today is hard just thinking about that he will not be there. I will be walking down the aisle solo. My dad gave me away in June and I don't want anyone to replace him. This is the poem I am using "Stand with me at the aisle Dad, though it seems I stand alone, I carry you inside my heart, life lessons not out grown, I love you always"

I'm in my early 30's but in the last three years I've lost both parents and my two uncles. Ironically I met my fiancee three weeks after my father passed. I appreciate reading these posts; you all have such wonderful ideas!

Along with some of the ideas that are posted I'm going to have a table at the reception and put wedding pictures of my lost loves ones. I'm also going to put a wedding picture of my finance's parents too and his grandparents.

Sharing and idea I had, my father passed away 2 1/2 years ago I will be getting married fall of 2019 and I will be doing an outdoors wedding, i have horses so my idea is to ride in on one of my horses ponying the other horse as a "riderless horse" in honor of my father. I will ride to the aisle and my oldest brother will then help me down and walk me down the aisle and give me away. I would love to hear any other ideas to honor my father. I will also do the empty seat at the front for him.

llo I am sorry for your loss. My father passed away in 2014 and my FH lost a very close grandmother so we are lighting a candle in memory at the reception. I purchased a really cute etched candle holder from etsy to hold the floating candle.

My dad died 17 years ago. We had a small table of photos of deceased family at the ceremony, with their names and relationship listed (like 'Bride's Paternal Grandmother'). All of the photos were in gold frames and same size. For my Dad's photo, I printed a VERY large copy and placed it in a white frame next to a white lantern with an LED candle.

We put a sign that said 'Wish You Were Here'.

During the reception we played one of his fav songs, and my sister mentioned him in her speech.

My mom died in 2001, my brother died in 2007 and my dad died in 2011. I am getting married in Sept, 2021. I am not sure who I will have walk me down the isle as I have no close uncles and all of my grandparents have passed. I also want to honor both of my parents and my brother, not sure how.
