For everyone who is planning on taking their honeymoon shortly after your wedding, this question is for you. My fiancé and I where originally planning on getting a hotel room for our wedding night in our town and then leaving for the honeymoon the next day (we live in Las Vegas Nv, and going to the ocean and DisneyLand). We are driving, not flying. I’m now thinking that we leave for California right after the wedding and we stop at a hotel on our way to our final destination. I didn’t know if anyone has done this or if there is a wedding etiquette against it.

My fiancé booked a hotel for us for our wedding night that is about an hour away from where we live. Neither one of us are drinkers, so I don’t think driving the hour away will be a problem.

My fiancé and I might take a sip of the champagne, neither one of us drink. We only live about 15mins away from the venue, so we are planning on going home, changing, bringing any gifts back with us, grabbing our suitcases, and leaving. He booked a hotel, about an hour away from our home, that is on the way to the honeymoon, so I’m hoping we will be good. Honestly, we will probably just allow our guests to take home the decorations.

My fiancé and I have talked about this. We have decided to go home and change, bring any gifts home, open our cards at our home, getting our luggage, and then leaving. He went ahead and booked a hotel room about an hour away from where we live, which is on our way to California. My fiancé is only able to get a couple days off of work, for the wedding and honeymoon combined. So we are trying to maximize our honeymoon as much as we can.

We are not having our wedding at a hotel. It is about a five or six hour drive to our destination. We decided on going to our home which is about 15 mins away from our venue, after the ceremony, so we can change, bring any gifts back with us, and then grab our suitcases, and head off on the honeymoon. My fiancé booked a hotel for our wedding night that is about an hour away from our home and it is also on our way to our honeymoon destination. I’m figuring, we will get their around 10pm at the latest, so it won’t be that bad.

As long as both of you are happy and in agreement, that sounds like a good plan! Have a wonderful time in Cali. Disneyland is so much fun! You have lots of gorgeous beaches to choose from too!

I’m excited because we are going at Disney Halloween time. We will be there the week leading into Halloween.
