Honeymoon

on June 11, 2020 at 5:53 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21
So we have our honeymoon planned for September, the country we are going to is open and we are planning to go whether we can have our wedding in August or not. But it looks like there are some restrictions and I will have to look into what is open there. My question is are people planning to go on their honeymoons this fall or are you going to postpone even if the places are open? My biggest fear is we will spend all that money and not have a good experience but not even sure if the hotel will let us postpone if theyre open.

Our honeymoon is in August and we will still go. Our biggest concern is the required 14 day travel quarantine before returning to work. We don’t have that much PTO. Even if some excursions are closed, I want to go lay on the beach and unwind after all of this.

We have our honeymoon in sepetember in Santorini Greece and we are planning to still go, even if our wedding in Italy gets cancelled right before. We booked Greece wayyy before Covid hit and it was all non refundable from the beginning (our thoughts were: why would we need to cancel! What would happen! 😕) given that Greece is open and in a good state I doubt they would give our $$ back so we are planning on going no matter what and making the most of it.

I will be going on my honeymoon if I am still allowed to have my wedding at the end of August. I have been monitoring the countries I am going to. Spain (doesn’t allow tourist until after July 1st). France (is a little more strict might not allow till mid July) England (even more strict, travels have to quarantine till June 29, then they will revisit if that is still the case).

If any of the countries I am going to still have a travel quarantine by the time of my honeymoon I will just have to change plans, and choose different countries. Some are more relax than others when it comes to the travel rules. Long story short, I am still going on my honeymoon.

Places may be reopening, but here in Europe most have a 14 day quarantine on arrival for the moment. Also you may need to do a 14 day quarantine when you go back home. Check national websites before booking. Also Sicily will be offering tourist vouchers and free hotel nights so check that out too.

We would go if there wasn't quarantines required. We aren't in this situation now, but our biggest concerns would be if they're quarantining when you get there and if your state is requiring quarantining when you return from that location. We don't have that much time off, so it would not be possible.

Things are re opening, but the countries are not fully open. For example, Jamaica is letting any tourists in on June 14 with no testing. BUT all the attractions are closed, you are not allowed to leave your hotel and tourists can only be in a certain section of the island. That is not my idea of a vacation. Most countries still say you need to quarantine when you arrive back home. There are a lot of risks to go away this year.

Also what is your agreement say? Most resorts have a policy in place to move a booking. Covid is not the only thing that causes people to rebook.

Yeah I didnt even think of the quarantine thing. as someone else pointed out if we have to quarantine on the way back we’d have to take a total of four weeks off work and just cant do that. No clue if Aruba has that rule though

I am leaning toward the same, for me its just about will we be getting our moneys worth. But we may just have to go and deal with it because postponing again is possibly not going to work

Ugh see thats what I’m afraid of, whats the point then? Also feel like its going to be such a hassle getting them to refund us since theyre technically open but thats still them ripping people off. Im sure most of us at this point feel like we could go back in time to when we booked our weddings this year and not do that 😂😂

I had a trip planned for May this year but cancelled it due to covid so we were looking at rescheduling for September however we haven’t rebooked yet cause now that places are reopening again we wanna see how they do - but we said that in monitoring conditions and stuff we wanna be able to know if the stuff we wanna do and places we wanna see are even gonna be open. We don’t wanna just go and it’s like... we can’t do the things we actually would wanna do ya know? If you’re ok with not being able to do certain things then I think it’s fine to go on it but if the trip is something where it’s filled with activities you can’t do then it might be best to go elsewhere or wait later

Yea i can totally see your issue here because that's why i have not rebooked my trip either - if you're going on a trip you'd want it to be memorable and want to be able to do things. if it helps, maybe you can look into having trip protection or insurance just in case things don't go well with covid and you can cancel.

Has anyone been to one of these locations? Wht could you tell about them? I’m getting skeptical after all these days.. had to cancel our initial plan because of covid on the west coast and now europe seems a better option for the last minute deals.. we’re thinking september as well

Most insurance companies are not covering cancellations or medical costs for covid if you booked after March 18th. If you booked prior, they will cover it. Some have added in covid clauses so they don’t have to cover anything related to covid.
