Honeymoon

Whitney, on July 23, 2019 at 2:38 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22

What is everyone's opinion on a honeymoon? Should it be taken right after the wedding? Or wait a few months? We are getting married in February 2020 and live in South Florida where we all know there is no winter. My thing is I'm unsure if I should take time off right after the wedding for our honeymoon or wait a few months. My job is flexible so taking the time isn't going to be an issue. We are also unsure of where to go for our honeymoon, so any recommendations is greatly accepted.

We did one a couple weeks after our wedding just because it worked best for his schedule since he's a teacher he only gets the school breaks so kinda meant we had to do everything in the summer. So definitely just go by what your schedule is. I've seen many couples do honeymoons way after the wedding

Honestly we are thinking about just waiting until our year anniversary. We always go away for his birthday in August and my birthday in October so it's not like we won't be going anywhere the rest of the year.

We’re also waiting. We get married in this September but we also always go on vacation for his birthday in July and mine in December. We may do a short trip to the beach the weekend after the wedding just to celebrate but nothing major.

We’re waiting a few months after our summer wedding. We live in New England and the summer in New England is only so long so we don’t want to miss out. Plus I think it takes some of the pressure off to be able to relax in between the wedding and honeymoon.

We decided to go right after the wedding (leaving Monday morning after a Saturday wedding). We really wanted it to feel like a honeymoon instead of just another trip since we travel regularly also. Also, from what I hear, you’re so exhausted after the wedding it’s nice to have a break and to relax.

It was really important to us that we go right after the wedding (we fly out 2 days after due to family from out of town). We really wanted to celebrate the wedding and have some time just the two of us without work, family, or responsibilities. Personally, we felt waiting a month+ would just make it feel like a vacation vs honeymoon.

We are going on our honeymoon 2 days after our wedding. For me, its a magical time and if we delay the trip I feel like it will just feel like any other vacation we have taken over the years. That's just me tho. We are going on a Caribbean Cruise out of San Juan. Can't wait!!

We're getting married in February too! We're honeymooning in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos!! It's beautiful! The water is a bright turquoise and so clear, and Grace Bay Beach is consistently ranked the best beach in the world! I'm so excited!

That makes sense Elizabeth. See we’re getting married on a Thursday which brings our family from out of town in for the whole weekend so we get to relax a little after the wedding.

How long is your cruise Virginia? He’s never been on a cruise and I have a feeling he may get stir-crazy being confined to a boat for so many days. I’ve tried to explain to him that you can get off at the different stops but he’s still unsure.

I never thought of it that way. We will probably save it for our anniversary and celebrate then.

I completely agree with this!! If it isn't right after the wedding it doesn't feel like a honeymoon! hahah

We're waiting and going next year. It's still too hot and humid to go to one of our honeymoon stops and we need time to plan ours (i.e., I'm the trip planner and will need time).

7 days and 5 different ports. That’s exactly why we decided to cruise out of Puerto Rico! More ports less out to sea!

I think you should do whatever works best for you and FH. I have also seen couples do a mini-moon if they are waiting a few months for their honeymoon!

We are going on a five day cruise two days after our wedding. I agree with others that if we wait it'll just feel like normal vacation. I think going right after the wedding while you're still on your wedding high makes it more special.

I disagree with the people who say if you wait to go later then it won't feel like a honeymoon. My DH and I waited. We got married in December and took our honeymoon to Maui the following October. It gave us time to save up for it so we could splurge on both our wedding and our honeymoon. We had a blast and it felt very much like a honeymoon and not just "some" vacation. We even received some honeymoon perks and people were happy to congratulate us. In fact, most travel agencies will give a couple honeymoon perks up to a year after your wedding.

We are going directly after our wedding just because it was easier for us to take all the time off at once instead of 2 separate times. We are going on a cruise. We leave the day after our wedding.
