Honeymoon to Universal (harry Potter)! Tips, where to start?

Kim, on November 29, 2019 at 9:47 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7
Hi! I’m finally starting to plan our honeymoon to Universal Orlando, specifically Wizarding World, for March and frankly, I have no idea where to start.

I’ve never planned a vacation before, especially to Disney, so I’m not sure what I need and what I should get and how I can get these things as cheap as possible.
All I know right now is that we want to stay on site and go to the 2 Harry Potter themed parks for 4 days. But otherwise, I’m stumped about what passes I will need or should get (like that 2 parks, 4 days park to park pass or if there’s something else...?)
If someone who’s been there recently could give me tricks and tips and where to start, I would really appreciate it!

Hi hi. Universal Studios and Disney are two separate parks. I know there are hotels near Universal and where you can probably take a shuttle there. Universal is one of two parks so no 4 day pass. I would do a two day pass and do one park one day and the other the next. Also, you may want to splurge and get the VIP pass because lines (esp for Harry Potter) can be very long. The parks are in Kissimee so be sure to find hotels with closest location to the parks and you may want to rent a car to get around Orlando. You can buy the tickets on line and also it is Spring break in FL so it could be busier. Get the VIP passes. Best of luck!

I definitely wouldn’t do 4 days for just Harry Potter. If you really love Universal, it could work, but there are really only a half a dozen or so rides total and the shops get pretty repetitive. That being said, it’s an awesome experience (I haven’t been since they added the addition, but I have been to both the one in Orlando and the one in California and it’s so cool!). The Orlando area itself is neat-Universal and Disney are two different things completely, so you might decide to do a couple days at each. We’ve had good luck staying off property for both-usually a Hilton resort. If you do pick one (Universal or Disney) to stay on property for, Disney is hands down the way to go. The last time I was at Disney World, people would take an Uber to universal for the day and it worked great!

    We're doing the same thing.

We are staying on site at Disney, because a cab to Universal isn't so bad...

You want the 2-park pass for Universal, or you can't ride the Hogwarts Express... but with Disney, it isn't a requirement. (My Disgeek friends strongly recommend it, but they also have favorite restaurants in every park.)

Other than that, we're still figuring everything else out! (I would suggest not going in hurricane season.)

3 park four day dealHoneymoon to Universal (harry Potter)! Tips, where to start? 1

If you want to do the Hogwarts Express you have to have a park to park ticket to be able to do it. I would suggest doing a ticket package deal with universal, you can easily find it on the website. For 3 parks(park to park, with access to Hogwarts Express ), 4 days its $319, but if you don't want to park hop you can do the same deal for less. I highly suggest doing volcano bay, its beautiful and has a lot of offer. The meal deal for Volcano Bay is a super saver on cost then just buying separate meals with drinks. When looking for hotels try looking around universal because there are plenty and call to ask if they shuttle for free to save on parking cost.

Make sure you get the TWO PARK PASS- they way you can take the TRAIN back and forth!

    1) Start at the ORIGINAL side and go through the “Jurassic Park” area to walk across the bridge and get the first epic view of “Hogwarts” castle! Then meander through the lanes to see what there is, don’t forget to stop and chat with the Goblin in Gringotts! Ask him a question and he will answer- no matter what you ask!!!

    2) The food at the restaurant eat the castle is Amazing! Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice are a definite.

    3) Then make your way to the ride. It’s worth the wait. And even someone who can’t do coasters like me is able to ride this one!

    4) Take the train over to the other side, enjoy the train and it’s sights out the “window”... then the station.

    5) Meander to the Knightbus and the lanes on that side and in and out of the Wonderful shops. If you’ve gotten an interactive wand make sure to use it through both sides.

    6) Tell then it’s your Honeymoon at guest services- it’s worth it!

You can do both Harry Potter parks in a day/ day and a half (if you really savor it). You will need the park to park ticket to take the Hogwarts Express across to the second park. I recommend going to the main park first and experiencing Diagon Alley, getting your wand and "school supplies" like Harry did, eating lunch at the 3 Broomsticks, and then going to the second park via Hogwarts Express when you're done. Universal also has the waterparks and everything for you to use and explore if you want. However, if you want to do Disney as well, I'd start with that the next day as Disney has soooo many parks of their own. Since you're wanting to stay on-site, Id recommend one of the Disney on-site hotels, since it'll give you more access to more parks. Since Disney and Universal are different companies and different theme parks at different locations, you could always do a night or two at a Universal on-site hotel and then go check into a Disney on-site. But I know once Im settled into a hotel, I want to stay and be done with hoofing my luggage around.
