Estes park is where we're going on our honeymoon! I found this little resort where you rent a cabin (some have a hot tub in them!) for a really good price. Here's their website http://www.castlemountainlodge.com

@Elizabeth k. Hi! Good to see another person on here in CO. We just moved out of Denver (too many people)

OP-if you let us know what feel you are going for, we can direct you to the right part of the state!

I would not recommend Glenwood Springs for a honeymoon. It is a really fun town, but it's more family oriented than a romantic getaway.

@felicity we are outdoor people. Maybe hiking/site seeing.. mountains. Horse back riding in mountains. Hot springs, fishing?.. for a place to stay, like a place in mountains with separate rooms/rentals.

Fantasy Ranch in Crested Butte has lodging and horseback riding. I know the owners and it is amazing there. Strawberry field hot springs is very romantic and secluded. Glenwood springs Colorado Hotel has a old 1880s feel and there are many cute shops in town. Summit county has many b&bs and has tons of hiking and fishing.

My FH lived there for a little while, he talks about Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs all the time, I'm not sure where that is compared to where you are going.

It sounds like you're not currently living in the Mountain West? If so, you will feel the effects of the altitude. You'll be tired a lot.

I recommend staying a day or two in Denver before going higher. If you go too high too fast you could get headaches/nausea/mild altitude sickness. Drink a LOT of water constantly, and take it easy.

Thanks Kelly. We live in Wisconsin. We have been to the smoky mountains in Tennesse but I hear those are nothing compared to out west. My TH has been to Wyoming and has been in the Mountains twice I don't think he had any bad effects from it

We are going to Rocky Mountain National Park a little north of Boulder. We are going camping for a few days then getting a hotel in boulder for a few more. While we are up in the mountains we are gonna hike and he wants to fish, but I don't know if we will have too much time for that. lol. We are going unplugged and we will call parents once or twice, but we plan to just enjoy our time together before we go back to working and going to school full time.
