Honeymoon Road Trip usa

Hello Loves! I hope your planning is going well! My FH and I are trying to plan our honeymoon for May 2021 and unfortunately we aren't able to leave the country like we wanted. Instead we decided to plan a road trip here in the US! We want to fly to our first destination and then road trip home to Ohio for about 2 weeks!
I'd love to hear of any honeymoon roadtrip ideas you may have! We love to travel and see and experience new things! Some of our favorite trips were Montana, Mt Ranier WA, Yosemite, Outerbanks NC. We like to hike and adventure but a beach would be just as fun (even better if we could figure out how to do both). We've thought about NC for the beaches and traveling the east coast but we also want to see the grand canyon which would be a roadtrip out west...we're open to anything!
Any pics or experience you have would be amazing! Im hoping the more ideas we get, the easier it will be to pick spots and map it out! 😍 Thanks so much for all your help!

If you like to hike, have you looked into the Appalachian Trail?

That would certainly allow you to start in FL, move up to GA, and then hike a lot.

I recommend hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Read/watch Wild by Cheryl Strayed.

That sounds fun! We are now considering doing a similar idea but just staying on the East Coast. I have never been to those other places but they seem amazing! But I have been to Outer Banks. I would say it depends on what type of beach experience you want, and keep in mind depending on when you go in May it might not be super hot sun bathing weather and the ocean may be chilly. If you want the option, after you're done with the beach, of being able to go on a board walk with rides and food, I would look into different locations such as: Myrtle Beach, SC or Rehobeth, Delaware (smaller but still very nice). (I went to college near Ocean City, MD - in my opinion it is not a very romantic option, better for bach parties) Outer Banks was a longer drive out there than I expected, and I persoanlly felt there was less to do for fun in the immediate area. But if you want to go to a beach area for the peaceful, and to mostly just hang out on the beach then it could be a great option for you! And since you like adventure look up the Dunes in Outer Banks, you can do some cool stuff!

If you want to do the Grand Canyon you could do a beach in California.
I don’t have any other recommendations as were not road trippers and we tend to go to FL.

Not sure if you have any interest in Maine, but it is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful rocky beaches, lighthouses, lots of opportunities to hike (not to mention Acadia National Park), great food.

I'm also in Ohio and we drove to Maine a few years ago going up through Boston/Salem, then came back through Vermont/NH.

We were going to take a road trip out west for our honeymoon, but we honestly might just do another Maine trip since we loved it so much!

We’re planning a May honeymoon as well Smiley smile this past summer, we decided to take a road trip and it included the Grand Canyon too. Maybe you can fly to California and see the beautiful beaches of Southern California (I particularly loved Ventura because they were completely open in June!) and take Route 66 back to Ohio. There are so many things too see along the way. Look into it. It you like history, it would be a great trip for you. Honeymoon Road Trip usa 1

I have no blog and I’m not comfortable to share pictures here, but I have been to most states in 3 road trips. Each road trip was about 2-3 weeks. Too many beautiful places to see! I made the route base on google, google images, trip advisor, and google map. Since we have covid now, watch for closures on state or national parks. Please be careful out there. Stay healthy ❤️

Yes, come out west (SoCali) and you can get beaches, hiking, adventure and great weather. It’s funny because I’m not a fan of road trips over 5 hours and not an outdoorsy nature person either. But your alternate honeymoon idea sounds cute. Best wishes!

Definitely the West Coast! May will be decent weather for most national parks.
You could do a few different things.
    1. Utah/AZ national parks: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Arches, Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley. You could add Las Vegas in there too as it’s not far, you could actually fly there. Near Zion I recommend Red Mountain Resort it’s an awesome and relaxing all inclusive resort, but pricey.2. You could choose 2-3 of those parks, then do Vegas/Death Valley and then drive up the CA coast on Highway 1. Stop in LA if you want to see the sights (Hollywood sign, walk of fame etc) and you could spend one day at the beach. Also highly recommend Carmel and Monterrey to stay by the beach. You could then do San Francisco/Napa and I highly highly recommend going to Lake Tahoe before heading back to Ohio. Both of those might have too much to do but you can tailor it and only choose one national park and a few cities so you can stay longer in one spot
