Honeymoon resorts that are open with no restrictions?

Marissa, on August 15, 2020 at 2:42 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3
We were supposed to have a moderately sized wedding (100ish people) but the venue isn’t even open yet so we decided to cancel it and scale it down to 35-40 people. We have our honeymoon booked for Sandals Barbados but we would have to get a COVID test on our wedding day and it may not even open up by October so we are trying to think of other options. What would you recommend? We want to do a resort, most likely in the US, for 4-5 days.

Depending on where you are located, both San Diego and Santa Barbara are gorgeous "resort" type cities in Southern California. Except for occasional, unpredictable rain, both have great year-round climates/beaches/stuff to do and October is likely to be very pleasant. San Diego is a significantly larger and more diverse city in terms of available activities. Both have tons of resort-style hotels, typically near or on the beach. Daughter & SIL spent their minimoon at Paradise Point on San Diego's Mission Bay. In Santa Barbara there are tons of nice hotels, but I'm personally a fan of the B&Bs in the area. We haven't been in a while, but the Simpson House was always excellent. Both cities are relatively close to beautiful wineries (Santa Ynez, north of SB, and the Temecula Valley, east of SD), museums, parks, harbors, zoos (VERY different in size, but both awesome in their own way), etc. Have fun planning whatever you choose! Smiley heart

I highly doubt you're going to find any resorts open with no restrictions, right now. It's just too risky for businesses and public health.

Have you considered doing a local minimoon (renting a place for a weekend, or something), and postponing the big honeymoon for next year?

Have you considered switching Sandals Resorts? We're getting married at Sandals South Coast and they are due to open 1 week before we arrive in October. Also Jamaica is only requiring testing from New York, Arizona, Texas and Florida before travel. Im a part of several Sandals groups on fb and some have switched resorts to accommodate their wedding.
