Honeymoon recs in the Us--favorite vacation spot?

Mimi, on January 20, 2021 at 10:21 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 9

I will be married in mid-June, and FH and I still haven't picked a place for our honeymoon. FH wants somewhere relaxing, while I want somewhere with things to do (not necessarily tourist attractions, just activities to break up the day). A beach would be nice, but we are open to really anywhere. We are looking for somewhere relaxing/low-key, but with a few nice things we could do together during the week. Definitely won't need a night life, though I wouldn't mind being able to pop into a city for an evening dinner/show if there were one nearby. I would also prefer staying in a place with hotel services to an airbnb/rental. Our budget is fairly generous because we have had a family member offer to contribute to it as a gift.

Does anyone have a vacation spot they really like that would be nice in June?

Assuming there are no travel restrictions by then, Maine in June is gorgeous. Beaches, mountains, awesome food...it's absolutely beautiful.

If you don't mind hot weather, Charleston, SC is also a really cool, beautiful place to visit. Lots of beaches, beautiful downtown, very classy.

    Lake Tahoe.
There is a beach and it’s incredibly beautiful, I’d probably recommend July for warmer weather and FYI the water isn’t super warm there.
There are plenty of stuff to do like hiking, going to breweries, casinos, great restaurants, paddle boarding/kayaking etc. There is Reno and Sacramento nearby too that are bigger cities. It is very touristy in the summer so if you want something super quiet, especially at the beach, this won’t work. There are fantastic hotels there too I recommend The Landing Resort if you want to stay in the town, or Westshore Cafe if you want to be further away from people.

If you like mountains we like Table Rock Lake, MO (it's near Branson) or you could do Gatlinburg, TN. As far as beaches - you could do Cocoa Beach or somewhere nearby or Tampa/Clearwater, FL.

I'll second recommending Charleston, SC! It's one of my favorite cities in the US. You've got a lot of options in town and the beach is right there too 😊

Savannah, GA also has a really similar vibe.

The Florida keys! Check out “The Bungalows” in Key Largo. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but they cater to honeymooners. It’s great during covid. You don’t have to leave the states, but feels like you’re on a tropical island. Amazing drives over all the bridges, lots of restaurants on the beach, some of the best snorkeling and you can even rent your own boats to drive around in the crystal clear water all day! We go all the time and it still amazes us that this is still considered the U.S.

Wow this is a great recommendation! Is there enough to do for a week? The water activities certainly look fun

It’s mostly a water based vacation. I know the Bungalows offer sunset cruises and snorkeling trips as well as free paddle boards and kayaks. If you want to go a cheaper route you can always go through different tour groups in the different islands. The seven mile bridge is amazing. You’re surrounded by nothing but water for...well seven miles lol you can drive down to key west and check out all the have to offer for a day and see the most southern point of the US. We’ve spent a lot of time there when we lived in south Florida and you can’t go wrong. It’s a very relaxing and chill honeymoon if that’s what you’re after. The water is crystal clear. We’re actually getting married there in March 🤞🏻
