Yes all of Europe has “American” food.

....yeah, of course they'll have options that aren't seafood. Not everyone in Barcelona only eats fish and nothing else.

I’m sure you’d be able to find American food in Barcelona, but give Spanish food a shot! While seafood is a staple in the Catalan region since it’s right on the Mediterranean, it’s not the only thing to eat there. Try:

traditional paella (made with beans and meat, rather than seafood)


croquettes (fried potato patties with different fillings)

tortilla española/tortilla de patatas (a sort of omelette/frittata filled with potato and onion)

bocadillo (a tortilla española sandwich)

gazpacho (chilled tomato soup)

cojonudo (chorizo and a fried egg on bread)

bombas (beef meatballs wrapped in mashed potato and deep fried)

papas bravas (diced fried potato with spicy tomato sauce and aioli)


There’s plenty more worth trying, but those are some seafood-less favorites of mine. Barcelona is one of my favorite places in the world, and the cuisine is half the fun!

Hey Mercedes! Have you ever been to Europe before? I actually just visited Barcelona in May, it’s such a beautiful city.

Of course, you will be able to find things to eat that aren’t seafood. You will be able to find a lot of Spanish food that is meat and potato-based. I would definitely recommend meat paella and patatas bravas!!
