Honeymoon Packing Essentials!

Samantha, on September 9, 2019 at 3:45 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 13

So we leave for IRELAND on Sunday morning and are going to start packing and getting things ready to go. This will be my first international flight and was wondering what you all think are must haves on such long flights? We have our books, iPad, headphones, neck pillow etc. but not sure if there are any must haves. Thanks!!!

I always make sure I have gum on flights, because my ears plug up and then pop. Gum helps. I was going to say books, but you already have that!

We are going to Ireland in June for a family trip so I've already been researching what to do for long flights. So far I have (for both my husband & me): compression socks to put on when the flight starts, inflatable neck pillows that store in super small containers, our tablet with a headphone splitter & two good pairs of headphones & three pre-downloaded movies, a portable charger for the tablet & our phones, face wipes & disposable 1 time use toothbrushes to feel refreshed when we land, small & portable snacks, a reusable water bottle to fill up at the airport, a large shall for me that I can use as a blanket on the plane, ear plugs & eye mask, and melatonin to help sleep!

It gets chilly on planes in general so I’d pack a blanket too along with hand sanitizer & wipes.

I have been on many international flights longest being 10 hours (about to top that in a few weeks when I head to Japan, 15 hours). Honestly, international is pretty different from domestic. The flights have movies and TV (a pretty big selection of new movies at that). I would recommend the trtl neck pillow (much better than a blow up or other). Most international also have ports for you to plug in your electronics (you can always check the flight you are with to make sure). I would bring your own snacks. Gum! blanket and eye mask. If you have an iphone, only old earphones are compatible with their tv but they provide you with one if you don't have regular ones (i always forget regular headphones). Also, most give free beer and wine if you like. I always get a glass for a nice nap.

Earplugs just in case! Sometimes you just want to nap or zone out and your stuck next to noisy people... 😂 And eyemask.

Don’t worry about a blanket or shawl, most international flights will have a plastic wrapped new pillow and blanket on each seat.

You may want a small purse or backpack to have all your entertainment things in one place at your fingertips (so you’re not constantly digging in the overhead bin).
Shoes that you can easily slip on and off can be nice when you want to pop off your shoes and wiggle your toes once in a while.

I fly internationally for work a lot. Things I saw were missing from your list that I would have are: snacks, chewing gum, wet wipes (it’s a long flight) or face wipes, a portable power block, sandals or slippers to change into on the flight. I also usually pack a change of clothes (at least underwear) in my personal bag just in case. I’ve never used compression socks and I’ve been fine.

We have a Samsung Tablet so we use their movie app, but I'm sure you can use iTunes!

Other than what you already have listed, I'd say...

Hand sanitizer, wipes, gum, chapstick, portable water bottle, snacks, portable chargers, aleve (or advil, tylenol etc).

Snacks! What they serve you on the plane is either gross, or just not enough to fill you up. I also always download movies and shows from Netflix before we go in case there isn't anything good and so you don't have to pay for the wifi. Also, maybe something to keep warm. Those flights get a little chilly and the blankets they provide aren't the greatest.
