Honeymoon inn *rant*

I just canceled our bed&breakfast and I’m seeing red right now. It’s advertised as a bed&breakfast inn and only shows photos of this adorable little farmhouse. I dug through review photos on Tripadvisor to check out what our room will look like, not just management photo. Loe and behold a single photo of what the building actually looks like.
The farm house is the office, guest rooms are in some Bates Motel looking ****show. It’s run down, it’s accessible to the outside. It looks awful! Also this premium suite we booked with whirlpool and fireplace? Fireplace is busted and whirlpool is limited use. What a freaking nightmare!!

So I canceled and just booked a regular hotel at this point. At least the rooms are clean and the building doesn’t look like a shack. I could understand MAYBE if the room was cheaper but it’s the most expensive “inn” in the area! I booked reservations at a nice restaurant at least, I’m just really disappointed. I’ve been looking forward to our honeymoon. 😞

    So sorry,,,,that stinks! Good for you for researching ahead of time. I research everything to death before I go anywhere, and always start with TripAdvisor.....guest pics tell all!

    Hope you are going somewhere fun, where you can have a great time exploring the area no matter where you sleep. Enjoy each other and have a great time!!!!

    I'm sorry to hear that!! I'm sure the hotel you stay in will still be lovely, they might even upgrade you when you get there if you say it's for your honeymoon Smiley smile On the bright side, I'm glad you found out now rather than having shown up and been extremely disappointed and upset.

    No kidding! But it was odd because Tripadvisor gave it a very high rating and 90% of the photos were the stupid farmhouse! I had to dig to find anything bad about this place. All I can think of is people liked how close it was to the amusement parks. I know people nitpick silly stuff on review sites but it feels like complete false advertising to me.

    That would be nice. There wasn’t much rooms left because we’re 14 days out so it was kind of hurry only 2 rooms left click it! Lol, it’s a bummer it’s a regular kind of room but all the suites are gone. It’s not the end of the world, I’m more mad at the deception because I had to dig hard to find this info.

    How awful out of the inn! Hopefully even in a hotel you enjoy your honeymoon. Not that a nice dinner fixes everything, but it'll definitely be a nice pick me up!

    It’s something to look forward to for sure! A regular hotel room with blue carpet just doesn’t scream honeymoon but given how little time we have left I’m just happy we could book anything. Most rooms were full. 😰

    Oh man that sucks big time. Honestly I remember doing the same thing with my first wedding. The place we booked in Tahoe looked great. We get there and it's a complete and utter dump. This was 14 years ago before tripadivsor was really a thing. I was so disappointed. Our in-suite hot tub had a crack in it and there were these icky stained mirrors all over the place and above the bed. And free porn as soon as we turned on the TV. Seemed more like a place to have an affair and not somewhere for a romantic honeymoon. Not that I think the ambiance made a difference but it really set the tone for the rest of our marriage lmao.

    Wow. Talk about bait and switch. That is the worst. I'm glad you caught it now instead of check in. I'm sure this new hotel is going to be wonderful. Enjoy your honeymoon.

    Thank you ladies. I’m very lucky we were able to cancel but my gosh I think that’s shady business. It’s a shame because it had a beautiful garden to walk around in but seeing as how their photos are deceptive who knows, maybe it would’ve been a patch of grass in a parkinglot. 🤨

    Make sure you leave a review on trip advisor about looking into photos further and whatnot.


    Good for you for canceling before it was too late! Maybe you can order room service or something fun at the hotel that you wouldn't have been able to get at the bed & breakfast Smiley winking
